ISL 2024-25: Full updated squad of Chennaiyin FC
The Marina Machans have a strong squad for the season.
The Indian Super League (ISL)’s 11th season is all set to begin on September 13, 2024. Chennaiyin FC will have an uphill task to prove themselves amongst formidable opponents in the league and come out on top and restore their days of former glory.
Last year the club fought back to enter the playoffs after finishing in sixth place in the league but lost to FC Goa in the knockout stages. The Marina Machans will want to oversee a massive turnaround to get their names on the trophy for the third time. Chennaiyin FC used their strategies accurately to bring former manager Owen Coyle back to the side’s helm last season and will want to build on his progress at the club.
Four players have been retained from the previous season through contract extensions, which includes captain Ryan Edwards, striker Connor Shields, goalkeeper Samik Mitra, and midfielder Jiteshwor Singh. The team also has talented Indian footballers and some proven international talents.
The Indian contingent consists of Gurkirat Singh, Mandar Rao Dessai, Kiyan Nassiri, PC Laldinpuia, Elsinho, Mohammad Nawaz, Lalrinliana Hnamte, Vignesh Dakshinamurthy, Laldinliana Renthlei, Jitendra Singh and Lalrinliana Hnamte; all of whom joined the club this summer.
Three international stars including Colombian striker Wilmar Jordan Gil, Nigerian striker Daniel Chima Chukwu, and Brazilian midfielder Lukas Brambilla were roped in during the transfer window. After some great groundwork in the transfer market, here is the consolidated squad for the Chennaiyin FC for ISL 2024-25.
