ISL 2024-25: Full updated squad of Odisha FC
Sergio Lobera sets sights on trophy after narrow miss last year
After an impressive performance in the previous season in the Indian Super League (ISL), Odisha FC is set to begin the 2024-25 campaign against Chennaiyin FC on 14th September at Kalinga Stadium, the home venue for the club. The match will kick off at 5:00 PM.
Under the head coach, Sergio Lobera, the Juggernauts had an impressive season last time out. Under him, the Kalinga Warriors won 21 matches, played out seven draws, and faced 10 losses in 38 games in the AFC Cup, Kalinga Super Cup, and the ISL.
Odisha FC achieved their highest-ever finish in the league stage, finishing fourth in the ISL 2023-24 campaign. They accumulated the highest number of points in a single ISL season and remained undefeated at home throughout the season.
The notable point of last season under Lobera is that the club maintained an unbeaten streak of 15 games across all competitions and remained undefeated at their home stadium throughout the season.
In July 2024, the club management decided to give Lobera a new contract, adding one additional year to his original two-year deal with the club. This made him the first coach in the history of Odisha FC to manage the team for two consecutive seasons.
Despite this performance, the club failed to reach the podium to collect a single trophy. For the first time, the club progressed to the semifinal of the ISL. However, after the initial lead in the first game, they faced defeat by a 2-0 margin, and 3-2 on aggregate in the second leg of the semifinal against Mohun Bagan Super Giant. They also faced a heartbreaking defeat in the Kalinga Super Cup final against East Bengal.
This year, Odisha FC has made many promising signings, including Hugo Boumous from Mohun Bagan and emerging talents like Rahim Ali, Raynier Fernandes, Amey Ranawade, Rohit Kumar, and Givson Singh.
CY Goddard, Princeton Rebello, Aniket Jadhav, Hitesh Sharma, Sahil Panwar, Michael Soosairaj, Lalthuammawia Ralte, Shubham Sarangi, Pranjal Bhumij, and Vignesh Dakshinamurthy have left the club this season.
