Hyderabad FC has emerged as one of the most prominent clubs in the Indian Super League (ISL) after life was breathed into the side in 2019. Replacing Pune City, the team has had its share of highs and lows from their debut season, where they finished at the bottom of the table.

However, the tide changed in the second year as they reached the fifth position, and in the 2021-22 season, they ended up winning the ISL Cup. This season marks their sixth year, and under new ownership, Hyderabad FC will be looking to make a mark and rebuild their lost glory.

From the experienced Juanan, and Marko Stankovic to the emerging talents of Odei Onaindia, and Javier Siverio; the club has welcomed players from various corners of the globe. Moreover, Hyderabad FC has also had the privilege of hosting legendary figures like Edu García and Marcelinho.

Here are the top five all-time best foreign players who have played for Hyderabad FC:

5. Aridane Santana

Spanish striker Aridane Santana joined Hyderabad FC in 2020 from Odisha FC. His noteworthy physical fitness coupled with aerial abilities made Santana an equally ruthless target man and fox-in-the-box.

While playing for Hyderabad in the Indian Super League, Santana performed commendably, with 10 goals and two assists in 18 matches. He was instrumental to the teams’ success all thanks to his ability to shield and harrow defenders while scoring goals.

Santana was on the pitch for 2741 minutes and scored 19 goals, providing four assists in his time in the ISL, thus proving his ability to score while playing in different roles.

4. Joao Victor

João Victor de Albuquerque Bruno more commonly known as João Victor, has been hailed as one of the club legends and is one of the most loved and followed players of Hyderabad FC.

João made 71 appearances for Hyderabad, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists. Serving as the team’s captain during the championship-winning season, he demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and a strong work ethic. Known for his versatility, the Brazilian excelled in multiple positions, including central midfield, defensive midfield, and even center-back.

He was the sole foreigner left at the club last season and played a crucial role in mentoring and guiding the young Indian squad.

3. Joel Chianese

Talented Australian forward Joel Chianese made a significant impact during his three seasons with Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League. Introduced to the ISL in 2020, Chianese quickly established himself as a key player under the guidance of Manolo Marquez.

In his 57 appearances for Hyderabad FC, Chianese showcased his versatility, playing in various positions across midfield and attack, scoring a total of 11 goals. His contributions extended beyond goals, as he played a key role in the team’s overall performance. Chianese is currently one of the key forwards at Perth Redstar FC.

2. Marcelinho

Marcelo Leite Pereira, affectionately known as Marcelinho, had a successful career in the Indian Super League, representing multiple clubs. Renowned for his proficiency as a winger or attacking midfielder, his ability to adapt to different playing styles made him a valuable asset to any team.

During his time in the ISL, Marcelinho showcased his goal-scoring abilities, by scoring 34 goals and providing 18 assists in 87 appearances. The Brazilian’s impressive record earned him a place among the league’s top scorers, with eight of his 34 goals coming for Hyderabad FC.

Marcelinho’s impressive performances and contributions to Hyderabad FC cemented his status as a fan favorite and further enhanced his reputation as a club legend.

1. Bartholomew Ogbeche

Bartholomew Ogbeche, a Nigerian striker known for his clinical finishing, was also a part of the Hyderabad FC squad. Known affectionately as “Big Bart,” Ogbeche joined Hyderabad FC on a permanent transfer in the summer of 2021 and quickly became a fan favorite.

He scored an impressive 33 goals, earned the Golden Boot, and helped Hyderabad FC achieve success. He also holds the records for the second-highest goal scorer in the ISL and the highest goal scorer for Hyderabad FC. His contributions were instrumental in the team’s maiden ISL Trophy triumph, solidifying his status as one of the league’s most feared strikers. In 2023, Ogbeche announced his retirement, calling time on an illustrious career.
