I-League 2024-25: Updated Points Table, most goals, and most assists after Gokulam Kerala FC vs Shillong Lajong FC

Churchill Brothers SC retake the top spot from Inter Kashi in the I-League standings.
The conclusion of match week 17 of the I-League was full of exciting run of games for the fans. The match week began with Churchill Brothers SC registering am impressive win over Rajasthan United FC on Saturday. A brace from Trijoy Savio Davis and a goal from Stendly Fernandes have helped the club regain the top spot in the standings.
Sunday’s fixtures witnessed Delhi FC return to winning ways with a 2-1 win against Dempo SC as they held off a late resurgence. The second match of the day saw Namdhari FC secure a close 1-0 win over Sreenidi Deccan courtesy of a goal from Dé. The shock of the matchweek came in the final match of the weekend which saw Real Kashmir FC upset former league leaders Inter Kashi.
The game which finished 3-1 for the visitors, saw Abdou Karim Samb giving them the lead in the 36th minute for the perfect start. The visitors further added to the lead courtesy of goals from Aminou Bouba and Gnohere Krizo before Mario Barco hit home a consolation in added time.
The match week games on Monday witnessed SC Bengaluru lead their 1-0 lead slip away to lose by a score line of 2-1 to Aizawl FC. A game which witnessed Henry Kisseka give the hosts the perfect start, the home side got awarded a penalty in the 28th minute. However the visitors showed great spirit as they responded well with two goals from Lalawmpuia Sailo and Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia in the second half.
However, drama was once again in store for I-League fans who tuned into the final game of matchweek 17. Gokulam Kerala FC welcomed Shillong Lajong FC to the EMS Stadium and produced one of the highly-contested games of the season. The visitors defeated the high-flying hosts by a close score of 3-4 courtesy of goals from Phrangki Buam, Genar Silva and the last-gasp winner Renan Paulino.
In a game that considered the hosts the favourites, the visitors fought back till the end to grab all three points. A game where both sides were equally matched, Gokulam Kerala were not able to hold off Shillong’s resilient play. The hosts took the lead in the 9th minute by Thabiso Brown before Shillong equalised with Phrangki Buam in the 14th minute. Buam further added a second goal after the break in the 50th minute before Brown repaid his rival’s favor to equalize and make it 2-2.
Genar Silva then broke the back and forth contest deadlock putting Shillong up 3-2 in the 85th minute. However, the lead was shortlived as Mashoor Shereef equalized in the 88th minute to make it three goals a piece for each team. The defining moment of the game came in the full-time added time when Renan Paulino scored the winner in the dying embers of the game.
It was a significant win for a Shillong side, who climbed up to the 4th spot as they leapfrog Gokulam Kerala FC in the process. The ripple effect of this result has added even more intrigue to the club’s ambitions of competing at the top of the table in the coming years.

I-League points table after Gokulam Kerala FC vs Shillong Lajong FC
The updated I-League points table shows that some clubs have moved up and down following recent results. Churchill Brothers SC has overtaken Inter Kashi as the new league leaders after contrasting results for both sides this week. The Goan club has climbed up to the top spot and has recorded 31 points after 17 games. The top two clubs are followed by Real Kashmir FC, who have 29 points after 17 games and are trailed closely by Shillong Lajong FC in the third and fourth spot, with only three point separating the two sides.
Namdhari FC rose up to fifth spot after their close win with 26 points in 17 games. Gokulam Kerala FC fell to the sixth spot after their recent close loss after recording 25 points in 17 games. After their loss to Churchill Brothers in the recently concluded match week, Rajasthan United FC fall to the seventh spot with 24 points.
Sreenidi Deccan FC fell to the eighth spot in the standings after their loss to Namdhari FC with 22 points in 17 games. Dempo SC have fallen to the ninth spot with 19 points after the latter’s close loss to Delhi FC this week. Despite losing SC Bengaluru remains in the 10th spot with 17 points in 17 games.
Aizawl FC have closed the gap on Bengaluru as they now sit in 11th trailing them by one point with 16 points in 17 games. Delhi FC, who complete the standings in the 12th spot with 13 points in 17 games.
