Jamshedpur FC vs Chennaiyin FC: All time Head-to-Head record

The sub-plot will revolve around Owen Coyle as Jamshedpur FC welcome Chennaiyin FC on Saturday
Jamshedpur FC rushed out of the gate at the start of their 2025-26 Indian Super League campaign. With Owen Coyle back at the club, the Red Miners won their opening four games and were at the top of the league table ahead of Mohun Bagan.
However, they have since gone on a five-match winless run and have slipped to sixth spot in the points table. While they did pick up last-minute draws against the favourites, Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City, JFC’s losses to NorthEast United and Kerala Blasters have derailed their title charge.
On the other hand, Jamshedpur FC’s former employers Chennaiyin FC are on nine points in their nine ISL games. The Marina Machans have been inconsistent, especially in front of goal, having failed to score more than one goal in any of their games this season.
Owen Coyle, once a fan favourite at Chennai became the villain over the second half of last season as the fans turned on him amidst the club’s dismal season. The Scotsman will surely be looking to show his former employers what they are missing out on when the two teams lock horns on Saturday.
Will Chennaiyin FC extend their positive run against Jamshedpur FC?

Chennaiyin FC and Jamshedpur FC first played against each other in the 2017-18 ISL season. The Marina Machans struck the first blow as they beat JFC 1-0 in December 2017, courtesy of a Jeje Lalpheklua penalty. The reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw in Chennai.
Jamshedpur FC picked up a 3-1 win in the 2018-19 season, registering their first win against CFC at home, while the reverse fixture again ended in a draw at the Marina Arena.
Between 2019 and 2022, both teams traded blows against each other. When he coached JFC, Owen Coyle’s Jamshedpur FC side beat CFC 4-1 on 20th February 2022 en route to their ISL Shield win. However, this was the last time they tasted victory against Chennai in the ISL.
Between the 2022-23 and 2024-25 seasons, Chennaiyin FC have won four of their six matches in the ISL against the Red Miners. Under Owen Coyle, Chennaiyin FC beat Jamshedpur FC 5-1 away from home and 5-2 at the Marina Arena to complete their first double over their opponents.
With Owen Coyle now back at Jamshedpur, the Men of Steel would be hoping for something similar in front of their home supporters to return the favour.
