Khalid Jamil unhappy with his performances but praises his players for their efforts and hard work.
Jamshedpur FC faced an unlucky defeat against Manolo Marquez’s FC Goa at the Furnace in their last game of the Indian Super League (ISL) season. The Men of Steel started the game with a clinical finish from Japanese stalwart Rei Tachikawa from a corner. Meanwhile, Noah Sadoui changed the game with his expertise in the flanks with an exceptional goal and an assist.
Khalid Jamil’s men came roaring in the second half and tested the Gaurs with some prolific attacking moves. Eventually, Len Doungel found the equalizer with a smart chip over Dheeraj. The home team failed to take their chances there on, and the guests took the opportunity to score the winner. Jamshedpur’s young goalkeeper Vishal Yadav spilled the ball into his net from a weak shot of Borja in the dying minutes of the game.
Khalid Jamil looked utterly disappointed after the game and attended the press conference with his short style of answers. Let’s look at the except from the meeting.
Taking responsibility on his shoulders
Talking about the game where Jamshedpur FC did everything right except securing the win. Khalid Jamil said, “I am not satisfied with the match, though I am not blaming anyone. We created chances and it’s a shame to lose.”
He continued, “Secondly, I don’t deserve to be here. I thought we would finish in the first six, but I failed. That’s it from my side, I am very thankful to the management for giving me this golden opportunity but I am very disappointed. I am not putting my fingers on the players, they worked hard.”
Message to the fans
Khalid Jamil concluded with a message for the fans which is probably his last at the helm of the Jharkhand-based club. Khalid seemed emotional as he blamed himself for not being able to complete his task. Although he was happy with his players and apologized to the fans for this ISL season 2023-24 and wished them for the next one.
“I just want to say sorry to the beloved fans. I wish them all the best for next year,” Khalid expressed.
