Jose Molina wary of tricky Kerala Blasters away trip amid push to seal ISL league shield

Jose Molina’s Mohun Bagan are sitting at the top of the ISL table.

Jose Molina’s Mohun Bagan are in need of a few more wins to seal the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) shield championship for the second straight campaign.

However, they face the prospect of facing a fired-up Kerala Blasters side in front of a packed Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Kochi), in what should be a challenging away clash for the Mariners.

Even though his side are almost close to reaching the finish line in the ISL shield race, Jose Molina is not taking things for granted.

He expects a tough challenge against Kerala Blasters, whom Mohun Bagan defeated 3-2 after being down by a 2-1 margin earlier this season, as he claimed: “There is nothing special to do, this is going to be like another game. We suffered a lot at the Salt Lake Stadium to win against them earlier this season and we know it won’t be easy in Kochi. It’s not easy to win any match in the ISL here, all the matches are different with different conditions and there will be a humidity issue there.

“But I think my players are fit enough to do a good job and play a good game. We need everybody at their best. One more match where we have to play well, score more goals than the opponent and get the three points. This is like one more match to win for the shield and it’s the most important one for us right now,” he added.

Can Mohun Bagan seal the league with a win over Kerala Blasters?

When asked if he feels Mohun Bagan can seal the ISL shield by winning the game against the Tuskers and reaching 49 points in the table, the gaffer replied: “I don’t think so right now. Goa can reach 50 points if they win their matches, so we will need three more points than 49 at least.

“The only thing I have in my mind is to go to Kochi, help my players have a good game and get three points, which will help us get closer to achieving the title. But it’s not done yet! We have to fight in every match, there is still a lot of work to do,” he finished off with.
