Jose Molina picks out praise for two Mohun Bagan players after Mohammedan SC thrashing

Jose Molina’s Mohun Bagan moved an inch closer to the ISL shield with the win.

Jose Molina’s Mohun Bagan produced an extremely dominant performance to get a 4-0 win over rivals Mohammedan Sporting in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Saturday (1 February).

Two braces from Subhasish Bose and Manvir Singh helped the Mariners extend their lead to go 10 points clear at the top of the ISL table.

Jose Molina was particularly impressed with the display of Jason Cummings, who picked up an assist and created a number of chances for his side. The Spaniard stated: “He has played this same position as he did against Jamshedpur a few matches ago, with Jamie Maclaren. He helps the team with the actions and progress. He is doing really well, he has the quality to play multiple roles.

“He can create chances and come into the box to get at the end of scoring chances. He isn’t scoring right now, but he’s proven he can assist and he’s doing a really good job. I’m absolutely happy with all my foreign players, and I’m sure Cummings and Maclaren will score more goals in due time,” he also stated.

Molina also heaped praise on young defender Dippendu Biswas after the centre-back picked up an assist and helped his side keep another clean sheet, slotting in nicely as Alberto Rodriguez’s replacement. Molina claimed: “He was great. Dippendu Biswas is a great player and every time he gets the option to play, he plays really well. He did really well in the win over NorthEast United which was really difficult.

“He helped us keep a clean sheet against Bengaluru in the last game. He’s doing a great job, he’s developing right now and is getting better with every game. I’m absolutely happy with him and I’m sure he’ll be a great centre-back for us in the future,” the gaffer finished with.

Mohun Bagan are back in action in the ISL when they host a tricky Punjab FC at the Salt Lake Stadium on Wednesday (5 February).
