Jose Molina also praised his opponents ahead of the clash.
Jose Molina will be hopeful that his Mohun Bagan side can make it five wins in a row when they travel to face FC Goa at the Fatorda Stadium in the Indian Super League (ISL).
The Mariners are expected to face a stern challenge from Manolo Marquez’s side, who are hopeful of climbing back into the ISL title race with a win over the league leaders. Mohun Bagan, to their credit, have a lot of players performing really well right now and that includes winger Liston Colaco.
Liston Colaco has scored two goals in his last four ISL games and is tormenting defenders with his slick operation in the wide areas. Ahead of the game against Goa, Molina had praise for the winger and stated: “What I tried doing from the beginning is to help him to prove his talent in every match. I’ve helped him in the training sessions, trying to get him at his best physically so he understands how we intend to play.
“I can’t speak about the past seasons, but for us, he’s an important player. Every player is important, but wingers are important players in my system. He’s a really fast winger, really good one-on-one and is great in coming to the box to score goals. You might have to ask him why he’s playing better this season than he did in recent ones,” Jose Molina added.
Jose Molina also credited his foreigners with Mohun Bagan for remaining patient and respectful to each other after he’s had to rotate them around due to the four foreigners’ rule in the ISL. Jose Molina claimed: “It’s not a problem for me. All of them are working well and they respect each other, they understand the situation and that it’s impossible to play all foreigners together.
“They respect their teammates, they respect my decision. The problem for a coach is always when you see the bench and you have no options to pick, that is a problem That is not my case as I have a lot of good players on the bench every match, and I try to encourage them.
“I told them a lot of games that in football, players coming from the bench are key players a lot of time. They have to be ready to come and be key players for the matches. The likes of Jason Cummings did it, Ashique Kuruniyan and Greg Stewart did it. There are a lot of players coming from the bench and are key players for us, that is great,” Jose Molina also quipped.
Molina will hope that his foreigners and domestic players can play to their absolute best and oust Goa to help stretch their lead at the top of the ISL.
