Kerala Blasters FC eye third consecutive win at home against relegation struck Mohammedan SC

The Blasters are unbeaten against Mohammedan in the ISL.

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 action heads back to the God’s Own Country as the Kerala Blasters FC are all set to host Mohammedan SC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, on the 10th of May, 2025, at 5:00 PM after a gap of two weeks.

Under the dawn of Ashley Westwood, Kerala Blasters FC, who are now on a four-game solid unbeaten run, will be looking forward to getting a commanding victory against the bottom-placed Mohammedan SC and ending the season on a positive note.

Currently in the 9th position of the group table, the Tuskers are almost safe from the trap of getting relegated. However, the job is far from over, and they would be looking forward to all three points, which would numerically make them safe from relegation.

Mohammedan SC, the team which is currently facing the struggle, lying at the bottom of the league table, have slowly started to get the grip of the game and has drawn their last three matches. They will now be looking forward to making the best out of their next games, which, even though it is an uphill task, would ensure that the team does not get relegated from the first-tier league of the country.

The Stakes

Kerala Blasters FC

Kerala Blasters FC, after bagging 10 points from their last 4 matches, have almost pulled themselves out of the relegation trap. A team, which once struggled to go head-to-head against the teams, have now risen from their ruins and delivered when it mattered the most. With 11 points in 11 games, they are now in the 9th position in the table.

Even though the chances of relegation are minimal, it is never zero. Numerically, if the bottom-placed teams win their upcoming matches, while the Blasters drop points, there is a chance that the Blasters will yet again enter the relegation battle. Hence, Ashley Westwood and his side will be looking for nothing less than a win against Mohammedan, which would strengthen their position in the group table and add confidence ahead of their final match.

Mohammedan SC

Mohammedan SC, the bottom-placed team of the league, is now in the threat of relegation more than ever. Despite drawing their last three matches, they remain at the bottom, and a couple of solid victories are now necessary to ensure that they reach at least the 13th position and save themselves from relegation.

Following Odisha FC’s victory against SC Delhi, things have gone haywire for Mohammedan as the margin between them and the 13th-placed team has now increased. Despite this, the team will be looking forward to fighting with intent by building upon the momentum from the previous matches, to aim for the best possible result and move higher up the table.

Team News

Kerala Blasters will miss Danish Farooq and Karim for the match as both players have not completely recovered from their injuries. Apart from that, there are no major injury concerns or suspensions for both sides.

Player to Watch Out For

Kerala Blasters FC – Matias Hernandes

Kerala Blasters eye their first win against debutants Inter Kashi FC

The Spaniard, Matias Hernandes, will be the key player for Kerala Blasters against Mohammedan SC. With a good physical presence and a decent defensive awareness, Matias has excelled in breaking the opposition’s attacking initiatives with some thumping interceptions, making him a valuable asset against the quick counterattacks.

In the last match against Odisha FC, Matias rose above the Odisha defenders to score in the dying minutes of the game and ensure a late thriller win for the Blasters at home. If Matias can display his uncanny ability to both attack and control the midfield, he could very well be a potent threat for the visitors.

Mohammedan SC – Lalngaihsaka

The 19-year-old midfielder of Mohammedan SC, Lalngaihsaka, will be the player to watch out for against Kerala Blasters FC. The youngster has particularly excelled in a playmaking role from the left. While he hasn’t found the back of the net himself yet, he is one of the team’s most effective progressive outlets of the team despite having a disappointing season.

In their previous encounter against SC Delhi, Lalngaihsaka provided two vital assists, which helped the side secure a 2-2 draw at the capital city. If he could yet again display his spark at Kochi, he might turn as a troublemaker for the Blasters backline.

Did you know?

  • Mohammedan has never managed to defeat the Blasters in the ISL yet.
  • Both teams are unbeaten in their last three matches.
  • Mohammaden has conceded the most goals and scored the fewest goals this season.
