Lallianzuala Chhangte was awared the man of the match award.
Mumbai City’s Lallianzuala Chhangte stole the show in the first leg of the Indian Super League (ISL) semi-finals against FC Goa, firing a brace of stunning goals to secure a crucial 3-2 victory for the Islanders.
Chhangte’s first arrived at a pivotal moment in the match. With Goa leading 2-0, Mumbai needed a spark. It came in the form of a perfectly weighted through ball that found Chhangte in stride. The winger used his blistering pace to surge past the Goan defense before coolly slotting the ball past the on-rushing goalkeeper.
His second goal was a moment of pure opportunism. A loose ball in midfield found Chhangte, who unleashed a powerful strike from distance. The ball rocketed past the despairing Goa keeper, leaving the Fatorda Stadium crowd stunned.
Chhangte’s goals were a timely reminder of his attacking prowess. The Mizo sniper has been in red-hot form this season, and his clinical finishing proved the difference in a tight encounter.
With the away win, Mumbai City hold a slender advantage heading into the second leg. However, FC Goa will be buoyed by their comeback spirit, shown in their two second-half goals. The tie remains firmly in the balance, but Chhangte’s performance has given Mumbai City a vital edge.
