Manolo Marquez talks about upcoming 'difficult' games after 3-1 loss to Jamshedpur FC

Jamshedpur FC ended FC Goa’s 12-game unbeaten streak yesterday
Manolo Marquez’s FC Goa were left red-faced at the JRD Tata Stadium on Sunday as Khalid Jamil’s Jamshedpur FC completely outplayed the Gaurs. The Men of Steel had 10 shots on target even though they had just 38% possession in the game.
A goal from Lazar Cirkovic and a brace from Javier Siverio helped Jamshedpur FC cruise to a 3-1 win as Manolo Marquez looked on in astonishment. The win took Khalid Jamil’s side to the second spot in the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) table, surpassing FC Goa.
Following the game FC Goa’s manager shed light on the upcoming games. Here’s what the Spaniard said:
Manolo Marquez talks about the upcoming fixtures
Following the 3-1 loss to Jamshedpur FC, FC Goa’s ISL Shield hopes are hanging by the thread. With just six games to play, the Gaurs trail Mohun Bagan Super Giant by 10 points but they do have a game in hand over the Mariners.
When asked about the upcoming fixtures for his side, Manolo Marquez said, “I think that more or less all the teams, we have difficult fixtures, difficult games. Odisha FC is a difficult game, then we play Mumbai City, another difficult game. They are playing to arrive into the top six, which makes it more difficult.”
The battle for the top six continues as Odisha FC take on NorthEast United tonight in ISL !!

Praising Jamshedpur FC, the FC Goa manager said, “Obviously, we need to play in the way that we were doing, at least to be competitive like in the former games. I think for sure it’s our worst game of the season. At any moment, we didn’t know how to play against them. They were better in practically every aspect of the game and that’s simple.”
Manolo Marquez concluded by saying, “We need to come back, head up, train again and try to beat Odisha. Again, it will be very tough, but all the games are tough in this season’s ISL.”
Whom does FC Goa play in their remaining six ISL games?
FC Goa will welcome Sergio Lobera’s Odisha FC to the Fatorda Stadium on 6th February before playing the West Coast Derby against Mumbai City on 12th December at the Mumbai Football Arena.
To round off their fixtures in the ISL league stage, the Gaurs will play Kerala Blasters, Punjab FC, and Mohammedan SC. Their final league game is ironically against Mohun Bagan at the VYBK on 8th March.
The game against the Mariners could certainly be a “winner takes the ISL Shield encounter” if the stars align for Manolo Marquez’s FC Goa. Will Mohun Bagan drop points or is the title race already out of the Gaurs’ hands? Let us know your thoughts…
