Mohun Bagan dominated the second half.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant continued their dominance in the Indian Super League (ISL) with an emphatic 0-2 win over NorthEast United FC. With this win, the Mariners have completed one more league double over the Highlanders. The first half was a tight affair as both teams failed to open the scoring despite having a few fair chances here and there.

NorthEast United came out all guns blazing in the second half and kept on piling up the pressure on the visitors until Manvir Singh silenced the crowd with a goal straight from the heavens. Liston doubled the lead for his side with his ninth goal against the Highlanders put the game to bed and wrapped up an important victory for Mohun Bagan.

A brief look at the points table

Following tonight’s win, Mohun Bagan have reclaimed the first position on the table. Bengaluru FC have dropped down to the second position. Punjab FC continue to sit at the third position followed by FC Goa at the fourth position. Odisha FC continue to hold the fifth spot. NorthEast United are still ranked sixth despite facing a defeat tonight. 

Jamshedpur FC are still placed seventh while Mumbai City FC hold the eighth position. Chennaiyin FC are still ranked ninth on the standings. Kerala Blasters hold the tenth position. East Bengal have jumped up to the eleventh position with seven points under their belt. The twelfth and thirteenth positions are held by Hyderabad FC and Mohammedan SC respectively.
