Other ISL clubs have criticized FSDL for postponing Mohun Bagan’s match.

The Indian Super League (ISL) is almost at its business end with different clubs trying to achieve their objectives. While Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City FC have already qualified for the playoffs, they look to fight for the ISL Shield title.

In between all this, the Mohun Bagan Super Giant vs Mumbai City FC which was previously scheduled for 14 April 2024, has been shifted to 15 April, 2024. This decision by FSDL has come after Mohun Bagan’s management had requested to postpone their match citing the auspicious occasion of the ‘Bengali New Year.’

Bengali New Year is a big festival in West Bengal and the Kolkata giant wanted to avoid the game on that auspicious day. After FSDL accepted their plea to change the date, several ISL clubs have exclaimed their unhappiness regarding the decision by criticizing the league committee stating it to be unfair.

They have also put forward their concern based on an incident where Odisha FC asked their league game to be rescheduled because of the AFC Cup, but it was denied. Hence, this decision by FSDL was unfair and biased is what the other clubs think.

However, the Mohun Bagan management seems happy with this decision as they look to grab three points from the Mumbai City game and reach the summit of the table. Mumbai are currently the ISL table toppers with 41 points from 19 matches. Mohun Bagan are just behind them in second position with 39 points from 18 matches.

As Mohun Bagan look to carry on the momentum for the ISL Shield, Mumbai City will undoubtedly be a tough nut standing in their way. Consequently, this decision by FSDL which has been criticized by most of the ISL clubs will raise a question on the league’s authority about biases.
