Mumbai City FC boss Petr Kratky also spoke about rotating the side.

Mumbai City FC are preparing to host NorthEast United at the Mumbai Football Arena before the ISL 2023-24 takes a hiatus. The Islanders have demonstrated remarkable proficiency across all aspects of the game, particularly in the second leg of the season, and aim to maintain their momentum against NorthEast United.

Conversely, the Highlanders arrive following a 1-0 defeat to Punjab on their home turf. Overcoming Mumbai City FC at the MFA presents a formidable challenge for NorthEast. Petr Kratky seeks to replicate the victory that Des Buckingham’s squad secured in the first leg, where Mumbai City FC triumphed over NorthEast with a 2-1 scoreline.

With that conveyed, let’s take a look at what head coach Petr Kratky and forward Lallianzuala Chhangte had to say:

Rotating the defence

The team has seen some rotations over the past few matches. When Petr Kratky was asked about the same, he replied, “We have a very good squad. The squad is big and everyone deserves a chance. So, I try to give everyone opportunities. We have to be smart because we have to protect players, but we also want to win. The perfect blend needs to be there.”

Wary of NorthEast United?

Even though NorthEast had lost to Punjab a few days back, they cannot be looked down upon, considering the talent-pool they have. The coach highlighted the same. “NorthEast United are a quality team. They will push for a top-six spot. If they win they can jump in the top-six. We know about their ability, their players. Our approach doesn’t change though. We have to be aware. We will try to do the best that we can,” he said.

Chhangte added, “When you look at NorthEast, this year they a completely different team compared to the last few years. They have produced good young players, with a mixture of foreign players as well. On top of that, they have a great coach. They have the ability to play in the top-six.”

Updates on Pereyra Diaz

Petr Kratky also provided insights on Pereyra Diaz. “At the end of when he got his red card, he got a little bit injured. So, that’s why he wasn’t available. He was a little bit sick as well. He trained yesterday, he will train today and hopefully he will be ready for tomorrow,” he concluded.
