ISL: Mohammedan SC head coach Andrey Chernyshov steps down following breach of contract by management

Mohammedan SC currently sit at the bottom of the ISL table.
A lot of issues are going on and off the pitch for the Mohammedan SC and amidst the chaos head coach Andrey Chernyshov has stepped down from his position. The club was promoted to the Indian Super League this season and there was a lot of excitement and joy among the management and fans, but as of now a lot of problems are going on behind the scenes.
Andrey Chernyshov expressed his feelings in a Facebook post while announcing his decision. He mentioned that he hadn’t received his salary for the last three months and decided to step down from his position.
“My dear friends, fans of the club. Today is a very sad day for me. I am forced to step down as head coach of MSC and my contract has been terminated for failure to fulfil the terms by the club. Circumstances force me to make this difficult decision. This is the most difficult and sad decision in my coaching career,” he wrote on Facebook.
He opened up on the issues of the management, who did not fulfil the terms of the contract. He said this was the most difficult and sad decision he took and it didn’t go as planned. Not only him, his players and staff also faced many difficulties in the club environment but still, were doing their job with full dedication.
“As a professional, I cannot work for 3 months without receiving a salary. I will not now talk about the difficulties that we, the players, coaches and staff had to overcome this season. I have never been afraid of difficulties and always came out to you and journalists when you wanted to talk to me. But this cannot continue. I made this decision with tears in my eyes. But all the blame for this lies with the club’s management, which did not fulfill the terms of the contract,” he added.
Mohammedan SC reeling at the bottom of the ISL table
Currently, they are bottom in the points table, in 17 games they have won only two, drew five and lost 10 games. They have only obtained 11 points till now and are facing a lot of issues. They have a negative goal difference of nineteen which shows how poor their defence has been.
They did start the season on a positive note but slowly everything is falling apart for them. Injury and salary issues are the two big problems which the Black Panthers are facing. Considering their performance in the I-League and the way they played the game, expectations were there but the performance was nowhere near it.
Newly signed players didn’t perform as per their level, which caused poor results this season in the top division. Playing in the first division just after promotion is a difficult job but behind-the-scenes, issues have made things even more complicated for the Kolkata-based team.
