Mohammedan SC will look to get back to winning ways.

Mohammedan Sporting Club, the new members of the Indian Super League (ISL) are set to host stalwarts Mumbai City FC in what will be the 11th league game for both clubs. The fixture hails different stakes for both clubs, but one thing is for sure, the two concerned teams are desperate for a win.

On that note, have a glance into what this Mohammedan SC vs Mumbai City FC ISL 2024-25 fixture has in it, while it’s scheduled to kick-off on December 15, from 7:30 PM, at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata.

The Stakes

Mohammedan Sporting Club

Mohammedan SC, last season’s I-League champions and the debutants of ISL this year, is not having a fairy-tale journey. They are having it terribly in the Indian top tier. The century-old club is trembling at the last spot with just five points from 10 games.

The side looked promising as it dawned but now the spark seems missing. Losing points here would further worsen their case, and push them to stay at the last spot. So nothing short of a win would be satisfying.

Mumbai City FC

This season is very different from the last few Mumbai City FC had. The club is baffling at the ninth spot, unlike the table-top where they usually stay. In the last five games too, just like the rest of the season, they have blown hot and cold.

This game against a weak defense like that of MDSC is like a golden opportunity for them to scalp three points, with a good margin to improve their goal difference. A win here would also be the aim because it might get them back in the race for a top-six spot.

Team & Injury News

Mohammedan Sporting Club

Mohammedan SC will be missing Mohammed Kadiri for the rest of the season owing to injury.

Mumbai City FC

Mumbai City FC’s centre-forward Ayush Chhikara is also out for injury.

The talented winger is regular in the club, though not as a starter. In 10 ISL games, he started in five, came off the bench in four, and was benched for one. When he signed from Hyderabad FC this summer, a lot was expected. But, the skillful winger hasn’t impressed at all.

He has no goals or even assists despite featuring in most of the games. He has a chance in this one to show his mettle. With his good pace and dribbling skills, which if used effectively, he can score goals. Also, even a goal contribution against the stalwarts Mumbai City FC would boost his morale.

Bipin Singh (Mumbai City FC)

The 29-year-old pacy forward has also not been of much use to his club. He has started in five, came as a substitute in two, and was benched in three. Even with the chances he got, he has failed to create a spark.

Against a side like Mohammedan SC, who are placed bottom, this could be his chance to shine and find his first goal of the season. Previously he has accounted for 24 goals and 13 assists in the ISL. Mumbai City FC needs Bipin Singh to score in their squad, otherwise, they continue to suffer down. This seems like a perfect opportunity against a weak defense, so he must go for it.
