Mohun Bagan Super Giants defeated Bengaluru FC by a 2-1 Scoreline
The Indian Super League (ISL) final was everything fans could have hoped for – a high-stakes and intense battle that saw Mohun Bagan Super Giant ultimately win over Bengaluru FC with a 2-1 scoreline. This victory not only secured them the ISL Cup but also cemented their place in history as the league’s double winners this season having previously lifted the League Shield earlier.
After a tight first half that went goalless, the second half of the ISL final took a dramatic turn when Alberto Rodriguez directed the ball into his own net and with Vishal Kaith unable to do anything about it thereby handing Bengaluru FC the opening goal of the game.
After conceding, Mohun Bagan Super Giant responded by generating a series of chances, yet they couldn’t find the equalizer from open play. The breakthrough came when a handball by Bengaluru FC’s Chinglesana Singh resulted in a penalty, which Jason Cummings made no mistake and converted it into a goal.
The tense final proceeded into extra time, and it was Jamie Maclaren who scored a wonderful goal. This strike sealed a 2-1 victory for Mohun Bagan Super Giant over Bengaluru FC, crowning them ISL Cup champions and completing their historic league double.
