Three players who can be new special weapons for Mohun Bagan in the 2025-26 season

The Mariners will be looking for impact players to step up ahead of next season.

Mohun Bagan saw their domestic treble dreams for the 2024-25 season crushed as they were defeated in the semifinals of the 2025 Kalinga Super Cup by FC Goa. Despite a brave fight by the Mariners’ unit, the Gaurs’ experience levels and overall strength helped them book a ticket to the final.

However, the Super Cup campaign ended up being an ideal exposure campaign for many of Mohun Bagan younger players. They proved their ability to hold their own against the Indian Super League (ISL) opponent and produced some impressive performances. The impressive showing of some promising young players must’ve been noticed by head coach Jose Molina, who can integrate these players into his first-team squad.

He realizes that these players can be potential trump cards and be used to catch the opponents off their guards. Here we look at the three Mohun Bagan players who can be special weapons for coach Molina in the 2025-26 season.

3. Amandeep

Amandeep proved his quality in the left-back role for Mohun Bagan by producing two impressive performances in the Super Cup. He was absolutely rock solid in the quarterfinal against Kerala Blasters, doing a stellar job at neutralizing their threat through the right wing.

He also did a sturdy job against FC Goa, proving himself to be a more than capable of featuring on the left-back position and capable to frustrating unpredictable wingers. Amandeep can be a solid squad player for Mohun Bagan in the 2025-26 season and also a great alternative for Subhasish Bose.

The 20-year-old defender received a few appearances in the 2023-24 ISL campaign, but didn’t get any games in the 2024-25 season. If he can keep performing the way he did in the Super Cup and remain a proactive, hard-working full-back, then Amandeep can be a valuable asset for Molina in the ISL next season.

2. Salahudheen Adnan

The breakout talent for Mohun Bagan in the Kalinga Super Cup was Salahudheen Adnan, who produced some really eye-catching performances. He was especially destructive against Kerala Blasters FC in the quarterfinals, setting up Sahal Abdul Samad’s goal with a brilliant assist.

He showed a lot of promise with his exciting forward runs and ability to dribble past players with ease. Salahudheen’s incisiveness and ability to move into central areas from the right makes him a unique asset, who should get more playing time with the senior team next season.

The 23-year-old can pose a different threat for the Mariners frontline because of his dribbling ability and clever final product. As long as he can refine his final passes and shots on goal, Salahudheen can get more playing time for the senior team next season and raise the unpredictability of Mohun Bagan’s attack.

1. Suhail Bhat

Suhail Bhat was arguably Mohun Bagan’s most impressive player from the Kalinga Super Cup campaign, as he was able to prove himself as a decisive product in the final third. Bhat scored in both of Mohun Bagan’s games, showcasing the instincts of a much more mature player.

The 20-year-old excelled with his impressive link-up play and movement in the box, tormenting experienced defenders and leaving them in awkward positions. He showcased some excellent movement for both his goals, after having scored two goals in the 2024 Durand Cup for them too. Even though the competition for the centre-forward role is tight at Mohun Bagan because of Jamie Maclaren and Jason Cummings presence, Bhat’s performances prove that he deserves more playing time next season.

He can potentially be a destructive super sub for Molina to use prominently next season, as Suhail’s eye for goals and impactful nature can help Mohun Bagan score many more goals in the 2025/26 campaign.
