ISL: Most goals by Indian players in a particular season

Indian players have performed well and scored crucial goals in the ISL for their respective clubs.
The recently concluded Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 had some memorable moments which were witnessed during the matches over six months with Mumbai City FC winning the title by defeating Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the final.
Undoubtedly the foreign players were in the limelight the whole ISL season, but there were still promising performances by the Indians who proved to be huge assets for their clubs. 384 goals were scored in the season in 139 matches with an average goal of 2.76 per match.
While Dimitrios Diamantakos and Roy Krishna remained the top scorers in the ISL season with 13 goals each, Lallianzuala Chhangte was the top goal scorer amongst the Indians with 10 goals in 25 matches.
Here in this article, we will take a look at the most goals scored by Indian players in a single season in the history of ISL.
5. 75 (2017-18)
In the 2017-18 season, Indian players registered their best performance since the commencement of ISL. In the 95 matches that were played throughout the season, a total of 261 goals were scored. Indian players had a fair share of contribution with 75 goals to their name.
Sunil Chhetri remained the top scorer amongst the Indians with 10 goals for his club Bengaluru FC, while FC Goa’s Ferran Corominas scored 18 goals and took the Golden Boot at the end of the tournament.
4. 88 (2018-19)
In the very next ISL season, the record was exceeded by 13 more goals to the tally of total goals scored by an Indian in a particular season. Although the total number of goals were 254, which was less compared to the previous season, Indian players added 88 to the tally.
The chart had the same names that led the list. Ferran Corominas again scored the most goals (15) in the tournament and Sunil Chhetri remained the top Indian goalscorer with eight goals to his name in the league.
3. 119 (2021-22)
After a below-par performance in two back-to-back seasons, in the 2021-22 season, the Indian players again found their names on the scoreboard quite often. They scored 119 goals amongst the 354 that were scored in the season in 115 matches.
Hyderabad FC’s Bartholomew Ogbeche scored 17 goals in 17 matches and took the top spot in the tally of individual goalscorers. Liston Colaco remained the top Indian goalscorer with eight goals in 20 matches.
2. 121 (2022-23)
The season witnessed a total of 345 goals. The tally of total goals by the Indians were better by two goals with 121 goals in 115 matches. While Diego Mauricio remained the top goal scorer of the season with 12 goals, Bipin Singh led the chart amongst the Indians with six goals in 20 matches.
Sivasakthi Narayanan, Nandhakumar Sekar, and Ritwik Das also scored six goals in the season and provided valuable contributions to their side.
1. 134 (2023-24)
The current season proved to be the best for the Indian players as they scored 134 goals, which is 13 more than the previous season. Lallainzuala Chhangte scored 10 goals, which remained the most by an Indian, followed by his Mumbai City FC teammate Vikram Pratap Singh who scored eight goals in 23 matches.
