ISL: Most goals scored by clubs in stoppage-time

The ISL has seen some spectacular last-minute goals.

The Indian Super League (ISL) has a history of delivering entertaining football action. In its 10 years of existence, the ISL has provided plenty of memorable moments for Indian football fans. Among the many aspects of football, late goals are some of the most enjoyable.

The euphoria of scoring beyond the 90 minutes, in added-time, is hard to describe. Whether it’s a late equalizer or a late winner, a late goal is always a welcome sight in football and leaves fans celebrating with incredible togetherness. 

Many ISL outfits excel at scoring late goals and are known for not giving up until the final whistle. Keeping the lens on late goals, here are the ISL clubs with the most number of goals in stoppage-time in the history of the competition:

East Bengal – 7 Goals

East Bengal have scored the least number of stoppage-time goals in the history of the ISL. The iconic Kolkata-based club have recorded seven goals in added-time.

FC Pune City – 8 Goals

Pune City, before shutting down their operations, had a penchant for late goals. The former ISL outfit scored eight goals in stoppage-time.

Jamshedpur FC – 8 Goals

Jamshedpur FC joined the Indian Super League from the 2017-18 season onwards. Since then, the Men of Steel have scored eight goals in stoppage-time.

Odisha FC – 11 goals

Odisha FC have scored 11 such goals in the ISL till now. The side officially joined the ISL from the 2019-20 season onwards after the owners of Delhi Dynamos changed their base from New Delhi to Bhubaneswar in Odisha.

Hyderabad FC – 12 Goals

Hyderabad FC, the winners of the 2021-22 Indian Super League title, have scored 12 late goals in the history of the competition.

The club came into existence after FC Pune City ceased operations and built a reputation under head coach Manolo Marquez for scoring late goals.

Delhi Dynamos – 12 Goals

Delhi Dynamos were one of the clubs that was part of the ISL since its first season in 2014. However, the club ceased to exist after their ownership shifted base to a different city. Before their demise, Delhi Dynamos scored 12 goals in injury-time.

ATK – 12 Goals

ATK (Atletico de Kolkata) scored 12 goals in injury-time. Their first ISL title, in the inaugural season of the league, was also achieved courtesy of a stoppage-time goal by Mohammed Rafique.

Kerala Blasters – 13 goals

Kerala Blasters have scored 13 goals in stoppage-time in the Indian Super League. The club are popular for their passionate fanbase which erupts in jubilation whenever the outfit score a late goal.

Mohun Bagan – 14 goals

Mohun Bagan Super Giant, the winners of the 2023-24 League Winners’ Shield have scored 14 such goals in the league’s history.

They have six goals more than their arch-rivals East Bengal in stoppage-time, giving their fans more reasons to brag about.

Mumbai City FC – 16 goals

Mumbai City are a heavyweight in the Indian Super League with two ISL League Winners’ Shields and titles in their trophy cabinet.

The side have scored 16 goals in the league until now in stoppage-time, building a reputation for never giving up.

Bengaluru FC – 16 goals

Bengaluru FC are a club that have enjoyed plenty of success in Indian football. Any player that features for the outfit knows to never give up in any contest.

Due to that, the Blues have scored 16 goals in stoppage-time in the ISL, since they joined the competition in the 2017-18 campaign.

Chennaiyin FC – 18 goals

Chennaiyin FC have scored 18 goals in stoppage-time, making them the club with the third-highest goals tally in stoppage-time.

Interestingly, the first of the two ISL title wins for the Marina Machans came through an injury-time goal by Steven Mendoza.

FC Goa – 21 goals

FC Goa hold the record for scoring the most number of goals in the Indian Super League (346 per Transfermarkt) and 21 of them have come in stoppage-time.

The Gaurs are only the second side in the history of the league to score more than 20 goals after the regulation period.

NorthEast United – 24 goals

NorthEast United are the all-time leading Indian Super League club with the most goals in stoppage-time. The Highlanders have scored 24 goals in injury-time, showing incredible character and attitude over the years.

Unfortunately, the side are yet to win any major trophies despite being part of the ISL since its first season in 2014.
