Mumbai City FC vs SC Delhi Player Ratings: Juan Pena & Carlos Fortes shine in ISL 2026-27 game
The Islanders lose 2-3 to SC Delhi
Mumbai City were 2-0 up, in control, and heading for a comfortable first home win. They lost 2-3 to a side that had not won all season. It was a tale of two halves, and the second one was brutal.
For 45 minutes, the Islanders were electric. Noufal tore down the flank; Ajsal finished a Noufal pass in the 6th minute, and Puipuia ghosted into the box to double the lead in the 27th. SC Delhi looked second-best everywhere.
Then it unravelled. A corner-box scramble in the 73rd minute let Carlos Fortes score unmarked at the far post. Mumbai had chances to kill the game, but Ajsal was denied 1v1, and Jain scuffed his one-on-one earlier.
Akshat Mehra levelled in the 92nd minute, and Juan Pena dribbled through the middle for the winner in the 94th. Mumbai lost their first home game of the season.

TP Rehenesh – 5.5/10

Kept Mumbai in front for long spells with good stops on Pena’s swerving long-ranger and Aimen’s counter-attack effort. But he fumbled Mehra’s equalizer, and he was beaten far too easily by Pena’s finish at the death. Good for 85 minutes, costly in the five that mattered.
Valpuia – 5/10
Struggled to deal with Aimen’s runs, who got past him despite multiple challenges before the break. Part of a back line that lost its shape late. Little going forward to offset it.
Lazar Cirkovic – 4/10
Solid in the first half, but part of the late collapse. Dribbled past by Pena in the build-up to the winner, and Mumbai’s box marking on the Fortes goal was far too loose.
Carlos Delgado – 4/10
Same story as Cirkovic. Beaten on the dribble by Pena for the decisive goal, and the defensive unit he anchored lost its organisation when the game needed managing. A harsh rating, but this is what the match turned on.
Akash Mishra – 5.5/10
Created the Jain chance in the 23rd minute with a good cross and drew a yellow card from Ashutosh Mehta for his work. As captain, though, he could not organise the side when it needed leadership in the final stages.
Sergio Llamas – 5.5/10

Held the midfield together in a dominant first half, but Mumbai lost control of the middle once Delhi pressed. Could not stem the tide after the break.
Tluanga – 5.5/10
Quiet and functional. Part of a midfield that controlled possession early, then lacked the legs or structure to hold it late.
Puipuia – 7/10

Smart movement to arrive unmarked and finish Noufal’s low cross for the second goal. A clinical, well-timed run. Faded after the break like the rest of the side.
Hridaya Jain – 5/10
Got into positions repeatedly but could not finish. Missed from almost point-blank in the 23rd minute, then scuffed a 1v1 against Nora Fernandes in the 58th. Both chances could have settled the game. Subbed off soon after.
Muhammad Ajsal – 7/10

Took his goal well after Noufal’s square ball and kept making dangerous runs. But in the 82nd and 87th minutes he failed to find the decisive third, first tackled from behind by Clarence Fernandes and then denied by Nora. The killer instinct was missing.
Noufal PN – 8.5/10
The best player on the pitch. His pace unsettled Gogou and the Delhi defence, and he set up both goals, the first with a square ball for Ajsal and the second with a low cross for Puipuia. He nutmegged Sourav and created most of Mumbai’s chances. He deserved better.
Substitutes
Farukh Choudhary (on for Hridaya Jain) – 4.5/10
Replaced Jain in the 58th minute but made little impact. Gave away a dangerous free-kick on Aimen in the 64th, a sign of Mumbai’s growing passivity.
Brandon (on for Tluanga) – 5/10
No recorded impact. Midfield remained as vulnerable as before.
Nathan (on for Noufal) – 5/10
No notable involvement. Losing Noufal removed Mumbai’s best outlet.
Yuvraj Singh (on for Ajsal) – 5/10
Arrived late and had no time to change anything..
SC Delhi Player ratings
Nora Fernandes – 7/10

Despite conceding twice, Nora Fernandes produced three important saves from inside the box to keep SC Delhi in the contest. Both goals came from close range after Noufal exposed the Delhi defence, making it unfair to hold the goalkeeper responsible. He also produced an excellent point-blank save in the 88th minute.
Manoj Mohammed – 5/10
It was a scrappy outing for Manoj Mohammed, who is otherwise known for keeping his composure under pressure. He committed three fouls and struggled to contain Mumbai City FC’s attacking threat down the right flank.
Clarence Fernandes – 6/10
Clarence was among the better performers in an otherwise struggling Delhi backline. He won most of his duels and committed just one foul throughout the game. However, with both goals coming after transitions from the opposite flank, his ability to track back quickly could be questioned.
Duvan Viafara – 6/10

Viafara endured a difficult outing against the Islanders. Operating in the centre of Delhi’s backline, he often struggled to provide adequate cover for his fellow centre-backs. Mumbai’s wingers repeatedly exploited the spaces left behind by Delhi’s wing-backs, putting the defensive unit under considerable pressure.
Lalrinliana Hnamte – 5/10
Hnamte, who scored against Mohun Bagan in the previous match, endured a frustrating evening. He received a yellow card in the 56th minute following a reckless challenge. Despite seeing plenty of the ball, he failed to make a significant impact and lost possession ten times, making it difficult for Delhi to sustain attacking pressure.
Mohammed Aimen – 7/10

Photo: Pratik Chorge / FS Media Pro / ISL
Aimen was one of Delhi’s liveliest performers and was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet. He registered seven shots, the most by any player in the match, with three on target and one effort striking the woodwork. He continued to threaten Mumbai even when Delhi were on the back foot, preventing the Islanders from establishing an unassailable advantage.
Juan Sebastian Pena Bermudez – 8/10

Pena worked tirelessly throughout the contest and was ultimately rewarded for his efforts. He delivered the decisive moment of the evening, scoring the dramatic winner in the fifth minute of added time to complete Delhi’s remarkable comeback.
Lamgoulen Hangshing – 4/10
Hangshing’s mistake in the sixth minute proved costly as his giveaway allowed Mumbai to score their opening goal. He failed to control a relatively straightforward pass and paid the price. Mumbai repeatedly targeted his flank, and he struggled to provide adequate defensive cover for his goalkeeper.
Mohammed Azhar – 4/10
Azhar was responsible for the turnover that led to Mumbai’s second goal. Noufal capitalised on the opportunity, surged forward and comfortably set up his teammate for his second assist of the evening. It was a costly mistake at a crucial stage of the match.
Rodriguinho – 5/10
Rodriguinho endured a forgettable outing, managing just one shot during his 71 minutes on the pitch. His replacement, Carlos Fortes, made a much greater impact after coming on, potentially giving the manager something to think about ahead of Delhi’s upcoming fixtures.
Sourav K – 5/10
Sourav K delivered an underwhelming performance against Mumbai. He was part of a midfield that struggled to make its presence felt in the first half. Delhi looked considerably more threatening after his substitution in the 71st minute.
Substitutions
Carlos Fortes – 7/10
Fortes made an immediate impact after coming off the bench. Finding himself in the right place at the right time, he had very little room for error at the far post but managed to tuck the ball home from close range. His 72nd-minute strike brought Delhi back into the contest.
Richard Ndayishimiye – 7/10

Photo: Pratik Chorge / FS Media Pro / ISL
Ndayishimiye brought fresh energy to Delhi’s attack after coming on in the second half. He played a crucial role in the dramatic finish, setting up Pena for the late winner. His lively presence in the final quarter proved valuable.
Ashutosh Mehta – 7/10
The experienced right-back made an immediate impact after coming on as a substitute. His attacking contribution proved decisive in Delhi’s comeback, as his effort was parried by TP Rehenesh and fell perfectly into Fortes’ path for the visitors’ opening goal.
Augustine Lalrochana – 6/10
Lalrochana had a relatively quiet outing after coming on, operating on the right side of the pitch. He covered plenty of ground but occasionally surrendered possession and failed to make a significant attacking contribution.
Akshat Mehra – 7/10
The young substitute delivered a moment of composure under pressure. Receiving the ball with some space in the second minute of added time, Mehra took a touch, turned and unleashed a confident effort towards goal. TP Rehenesh should arguably have done better, but the goalkeeper’s fumble allowed Delhi to equalise. It was an encouraging contribution from a player making his first appearance of the season.
