Odisha FC will be the favorites against Kerala Blasters in the ISL playoffs.

The 2023-24 Indian Super League has reached its final stretch, as the league fixtures are done and dusted, and now it is time for the playoffs to unfold. 

The first playoff fixture of this ISL season, sees Kerala Blasters make a trip to Temple City, to take on Sergio Lobera’s Odisha FC. Both sides have had a really impressive ISL season so far and would go all in to continue their fight for the trophy. 

Odisha FC, by all means, had an overwhelming season altogether, as they shone not only on the national stage but also made a name for themselves on the continental platform. The Juggernauts maintained an impressive 13-game unbeaten streak that was finally broken by Chennaiyin FC. 

Despite having picked only four points in their last five outings, Lobera’s men are not to be underestimated by any means, and Saturday’s fixture will be a major test for Lobera’s men once again, in their quest for ISL glory. 

Kerala Blasters, on the other hand, met a disastrous fate throughout the season, with a brickload of injury issues tainting their ISL Shield hopes. But even in such an adverse situation, the club stood resolute and faced all the challenges with great vigor.

Coach Ivan Vukamanovic is also to be credited for seeing Kerala through the league stages and helping them comfortably qualify for the playoffs. Although Kerala Blasters FC have won only two ISL games since the Super Cup, there is little to no doubt that Kerala’s approach to this game will be very different from what we have already seen, and we can be sure of a cracking fixture to unfold, once these two sides face off at the Kalinga Stadium.
