Sergio Lobera eyes clinching the first-ever ISL silverware for the Juggernauts

Last season, Odisha FC‘s head coach, Sergio Lobera, were determined to make a significant impact in the Indian Super League. The team were on the verge of clinching the ISL Shield and nearly reached the finals, only to be edged out by Mohun Bagan in the dying moments of the second leg.

Odisha FC’s performance marked one of the most impressive campaigns since their inception in Indian football’s top tier. Under Lobera’s leadership, the team shed their previous image as lackluster, bottom-half side, transforming into a formidable force. With the recent signings of players like Hugo Boumous and Rahim Ali, who are expected to enhance the team’s attacking capabilities, the Juggernauts look set to continue their ascent as a major contender in the league.

The Juggernauts will kick off their Indian Super League campaign at their fortress, Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, where they boasted an unbeaten record last season. They are set to face Chennaiyin FC on September 14 in an evening fixture. Following this, they will travel to the National Capital to play Punjab FC in an away game. The Juggernauts will then play three consecutive home matches against Jamshedpur, Kerala Blasters, and East Bengal over the course of nearly a month.

A highly anticipated clash against Mohun Bagan will take place on November 10 at Kalinga Stadium, as the Juggernauts seek to avenge their defeat in the second leg of last season’s semi-finals. Coach Sergio Lobera will face his former side, Mumbai City FC, when Odisha host the Islanders in the first week of December at Kalinga Stadium. The calendar year will conclude with the Juggernauts playing their final two games of the year in Kolkata, facing East Bengal and Mohammedan SC.
