The 22-year-old defender has had a breakout season with Odisha FC.

Moirangthem Thoiba Singh has signed a multi-year contract extension Indian Super League (ISL) club Odisha FC , whose contract was set to expire on May 31, 2026. He has been one of the brightest spots for coach Sergio Lobera in a challenging season where the club finished seventh in the ISL league standings.

Having made 22 appearances for Odisha this season, Singh also scored his first-ever ISL goal of his career as a Odisha FC player. He also contributed with two assists this season and was one of the trusted figures at the club this season.

A former Minerva Punjab youth product, Thoiba moved to Odisha during the 2020-21 ISL season, however managing only one appearance during his first season. However, he got a greater amount of game time in his second season at the club, as he was deployed in a defensive midfield role, which showcased his versatility.

During the 2024-25 season, the 22-year-old was a revelation for Odisha and his performances even earned him a national team call-up. While he didn’t make his international debut, Manolo Marquez will be keeping a close eye on the Odisha FC player in the near future.

Odisha FC narrowly missed out on the ISL playoffs

The Juggernauts narrowly missed out on the final playoff spot as Mumbai City FC secured a crucial 2-0 win over Bengaluru FC in the final matchweek. Coach Lobera’s men only managed to win three out of their last 10 ISL games, and drastically denting their playoff qualification aspirations.

However, Odisha has a promising squad possessing one of the youngest squads in the league. With the setback of the 2024-25 ISL campaign, Lobera will be keen to train and get the best out of his young squad ahead of next season.

With Thoiba now committing his future to the club for the upcoming years, Odisha has a promising young core at their disposal as they look to build for the next season.
