Oscar Bruzon praises these 'two players' after East Bengal's win over Jamshedpur FC in ISL

Oscar Bruzon has transformed the East Bengal side into a new team.

East Bengal picked up their second straight win at the Salt Lake Stadium (Kolkata) with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) clash.

A second-half winner from Dimitrios Diamatankos was enough for the Red & Gold Brigade to move closer to the top-six place in the ISL.

Oscar Bruzon was pleased with his side’s performance and was particularly delighted with how good Anwar Ali was in a central midfield role. Speaking about Anwar Ali’s performance, Oscar Bruzon stated: “Anwar is a top player, a top guy and he’s a team man.

“He has never showed any complaints or put up a bad face, he is in the team’s service in any way. In any position that he plays in, he shows that he’s the best player in that area. We should be very happy and proud to have a player like him in our club,” he further quipped.

Oscar Bruzon has also praised Cleiton Silva for the kind of transformation he’s shown with bright performances in the last two games, stating: “We didn’t change too much about him, what we changed was a little bit on what he needs to do in the game. Cleion is naturally a No 9 but in our team, we usually play with two number nines and what we want is they don’t play in the same lines.

“We want someone who can come closer to the midfielders and the other one stretches the opponent team. He has understood his role well in the last two games, he’s playing with utmost confidence and is a leader on the pitch. He is already giving us good performances and we’ve always said we wanted to see the best version of Cleiton and slowly he’s getting to that point,” Oscar Bruzon added.

East Bengal will be eager to maintain their good form and end 2024 on a bright note when they face Hyderabad FC next Saturday (28 December).
