Oscar Bruzon will look to grab three points from his clash.

Oscar Bruzon’s East Bengal are determined to win their first Kolkata Derby in the Indian Super League (ISL) when they face off against Mohun Bagan on January 11 (Saturday) at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati. The Red & Gold Brigade might have lost their last game, but still have enough hunger and desire to take the fight to the Mariners.

Ahead of the match, Oscar Bruzon showcased a lot of confidence in his side taking the fight to Mohun Bagan. When asked if he feels his men can stop the in-form Mariners, the gaffer replied: “They also have to stop us. Football always has two sides, we have attack and defence. We need to understand what their strengths and weaknesses are.

“We need to be more reactive, there is no secret on this. We need to dominate the game, we need to have control in central areas. We are evaluating all the technical things and making adjustments for tomorrow. Let’s see if they can stop us,” Oscar Bruzon added.

Oscar Bruzon is also not looking much into the refereeing issues in ISL ahead of this high-voltage game, as he noted: “I believe in the integrity of the ISL and the referees. Sometimes it’s true that we lack in terms of refereeing decisions and some of them weren’t on our side. But in the long-term, all these decisions get balanced on the other sides.

“If you see the critical actions of Mohun Bagan, both of them are coming on their side. I don’t want to talk about excuses with referees, I hope we don’t need to talk about referees tomorrow as that would mean the referees do not influence the game,” Oscar Bruzon further quipped.

Finally, Oscar Bruzon insists that his side are not suffering from an issue of low morale heading into the derby, stating: “Our morale is at a maximum level. In Hyderabad, the plan was faulty a little bit we dominated the majority of the game but then a mistake happened in the last minute.

“Regarding the Mumbai City match, it’s true that I wasn’t happy with the performance of the team, but we had the chance to change everything at half-time and the team played well and I felt we would win the game when it was 2-2. A mistake cost us the game, but I don’t believe that mistake would impact the morale of the team,” Oscar Bruzon finished.
