Owen Coyle opens on importance of regrouping ahead of Jamshedpur FC's ISL 2025-26 clash against Delhi

Red Miners suffered their first defeat against the Highlanders in the last game
Jamshedpur FC are one of the top contenders to win the ISL Shield this season after winning four out of their first five games, including a win over East Bengal away. After Mohun Bagan dropped points against Bengaluru FC, Jamshedpur FC had a golden opportunity to win the game and go top of the table.
But winning games in Guwahati is nothing less than a herculean task, and somehow, Juan Pedro Benali’s men always find a way to win games against Jamshedpur at home. The Red Miners suffered their first defeat of the season as NorthEast scored twice in response to Messi Bouli’s penalty.
Ahead of the next big game against SC Delhi, Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle and player Mohammed Sanan briefed the media about the team’s preparation.
Coyle eyes bouncing back immediately with win over Delhi

After Jamshedpur FC conceded their first defeat of the season, the former Burnley gaffer, Owen Coyle,, felt that the schedule has been demanding and it is never easy to win games away. But he laid stress on the importance of making a comeback in the next game against SC Delhi.
Owen Coyle said, “Any disappointing result demands a quick response. Against NorthEast, we did not deserve to lose despite conceding soft goals. The schedule has been demanding with travel and quick turnarounds, but the boys are hardworking and honest. We now look to bounce back immediately and return to winning ways”
Coyle added, “I never like losing, and we certainly should not have lost that game. However, there are always lessons to take, particularly from the goals we conceded. We remain balanced, we do not get carried away with wins or overly down after defeats.”
Coyle feels that Delhi are far better than point table suggests

Delhi may be languishing near the bottom of the table after three consecutive defeats. But the squad showed resilience and clinched their first point of the season after holding the Islanders to a 2-2 draw. Owen Coyle feels that SC Delhi are a much better team than the points table shows.
Owen Coyle said, “They are much better than their points tally suggests. Their performance against Mumbai City showed real character, especially after going two goals down early. We are under no illusions that this will be a tough away fixture, but if we perform at our best we believe we can secure the three points.”

Madih Talal and Vincy Baretto to remain absent in next game

It is never easy to create opportunities consistently and Coyle feels that his team have done that despite the strikers failing to score many goals so far. Apart from the game against East Bengal, Jamshedpur FC have not scored more than once in any game so far.
Coyle said, “Creating chances is always the hardest part in football, and we are doing that consistently. Of course, we want to be more clinical, but this is a collective responsibility. It is a team game, and we remain focused on continuing our overall progress.”
Speaking about making changes in the next game, “We may freshen things slightly, especially with Vincy suspended and Madih Talal injured. However, the players who have featured so far have been outstanding in their work rate and commitment. Our focus remains on staying united and responding positively.”
Sanan feels that everyone remains focused

The Kerala-born winger has still not found his name in the scoresheet this season. Yet, he remains confident that the team will perform in the next game against Delhi. Sanan was one of the most emerging talents of ISL last season and has created many chances this season.
Sanan said, “The mood is positive and focused. Everyone is supporting each other and working hard in preparation for the next match. We aim to stay united and be ready to give our best performance.”
