The Shers will be looking for another statement victory against the Black Panthers.

Indian Super League (ISL) club Punjab FC head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis is looking forward to facing Mohammedan SC in matchweek 11. While emphasizing his team’s focus on sustaining their winning momentum, the Greek manager expressed his desire to build on their recent performances.

Punjab FC enters the game following an impressive 3-0 win over the defending champions Mumbai City FC. Mohammedan SC are coming off another tough 3-1 loss against Jamshedpur FC. A win would be a huge result for both sides facing two different challenges.

While addressing the media at the pre-match press conference, Dilmperis expressed confidence in his squad’s progress. Despite the challenges posed by injuries, the Greek spoke candidly about the upcoming encounter.

Consistency key to confidence for Panagiotis Dilmperis

The Greek was full of praise for his men after their Matchweek 10 performance against Mumbai City FC. While reflecting on their recent performances, Panagiotis Dilmperis stated, “I was super satisfied with the team’s performance, even in games we were losing. There’s nothing for us to change but to develop in certain areas. Every week, we aim to grow, and this consistency gives me confidence in the team.”

The club have shown a gradual yet consistent improvement, transitioning from narrowly clinching victories to dominating games with consistent attacking displays. The coach is keen on taking the next step, which involves creating more scoring opportunities while maintaining defensive solidity.

Injuries might play spoilsport against Mohammedan SC

As good as the team having been this season, they face a significant hurdle as defender Melroy Assisi will be unavailable due to injury. Assisi had played a crucial role in Punjab FC’s recent clean sheet performance against Mumbai. His absence will force Dilmperis to make adjustments in the backline.

While talking about the absentee and the solution, Panagiotis Dilmperis stated, “We have two thoughts about levels, since Melroy is still injured. Mohammedan SC is a strong team. Playing in Kolkata is always challenging. They have good players, so we need to stay focused and put forth our best effort.”

A unified Punjab FC squad can go a long way

The Greek head coach was all praise for the team’s unity, both on and off the pitch. He attributed this synergy as a significant factor in their recent run of success in games. Talking about the difference from last season to this season, Panagiotis Dilmperis stated, “This season, we are more united and confident as a team. On the pitch, we focus on playing our style and making opponents adapt to us. Off the pitch, the bond between staff and players has grown stronger, and that is reflected in our results.”

Despite the poor form endured by Mohammedan SC, playing them as a side desperate for a win will present a formidable challenge. The Black Panthers are expected to respond to Punjab FC’s mettle and give a good account of themselves. However, despite the challenge, the Punjab FC head coach and his players remain optimistic about their chances.

The upcoming game provides the Shers an opportunity to not only extend their winning streak but also to solidify their identity as a competitive unit in the ISL. With tactical adjustments and growing confidence, the team will be eager to put on a show for their home fans.
