ISL: Top five players with most goal contributions

Sunil Chhetri leads the chart with 88 goal contributions in ISL so far.
The Indian Super League (ISL) has been the most glittering football competition in Indian football since its creation in 2014. The league, which was officially ascended to be the top-flight of Indian football in 2019, has created numerous memories for fans and given the platform to some quality players.
There might be some confusion and uncertainty over the long-term future of the ISL, but it has definitely produced a lot of entertainment for fans over the last decade. Some players have outperformed the majority of the crop with their heroics, especially when it comes to consistently delivering goal contributions.
There have been a number of highly talented players to have played in the ISL, but these five players have performed at a higher level altogether. Here we look at the five players with the highest number of goal contributions in the history of the Indian Super League.
5. Lallianzuala Chhangte
Lallianzuala Chhangte has been a mainstay in the Indian Super League since 2016, when he first had a short loan spell at NorthEast United. He’s gone onto play for the Delhi Dynamos, Chennaiyin FC and his current club, Mumbai City. The 28-year-old winger has been quite consistent with his goal contributions over the last few years, especially since his move to Mumbai City.
He has scored 46 goals and provided 20 assists in his time in the ISL, out of which nine goal contributions came in the 2024-25 season (six goals, three assists). Chhangte scored 12 goals in the ISL for Chennaiyin FC in a pretty prolific stint, but most of his success has come at Mumbai. He’s won the ISL League Shield and ISL Cup with the Islanders, and even won the ISL Hero of the League award in the 2022-23 season.
4. Bartholomew Ogbeche
Bart Ogbeche only arrived in the Indian Super League at the age of 34, after a career in which he played for the likes of PSG, Real Valladolid and Middlesbrough. However, his age did not hold him back from making an explosive impact during his time in Indian Football. The Nigerian forward played for four clubs in his five years in India. He started the stint with NorthEast United, scoring 12 goals in the ISL for them before moving to Kerala Blasters, for whom he bagged 15 goals.
He had a short stint with Mumbai City, winning the ISL double with them in the 2020-21 season and scoring eight times. Ogbeche also helped Hyderabad FC win the title in 2021-22 and was impressively consistent throughout his tenure. He ended up scoring 63 goals and providing nine assists in his ISL career, averaging 0.6 goals per game and a conversion rate of 26.2%. The Nigerian remains the second-highest scorer in Indian Super League history to this date.
3. Hugo Boumous

Hugo Boumous is another influential foreign player who has already played for four different Indian Super League clubs in his seven years in Indian football. He arrived as part of FC Goa in 2018, helping them win the 2019-20 ISL League Shield. He then moved to Mumbai City in 2020, winning the ISL double in his first campaign. Mohun Bagan paid a record transfer fee to sign the midfielder in 2021, and he spent three years with the Kolkata club.
Boumous is currently with Odisha FC, for whom he scored six goals and provided seven assists in 21 ISl games last season. The 29-year-old has been impressively consistent with his goal contributions in the ISL, having managed 74 goal contributions so far for his four teams. He’s scored 35 goals and provided 39 assists in 110 Indian Super League games.
2. Roy Krishna
Roy Krishna had a memorable time in Indian football that ended with his period at Odisha FC. The Fijian forward was brought to India by ATK FC, scoring 15 goals in his first Indian Super Leaguecampaign in 21 games. He went onto score 21 goals for Mohun Bagan, as well as having 11 goal contributions (six goals, five assists) in his only campaign at Bengaluru FC. He spent two years at Odisha FC, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists for them in the ISL.
Krishna showcased admirable consistency in terms of being able to churn out goals or assists for his teams during his time in India. The Fijian forward is currently the third-highest scorer in the ISL with 58 goals to his name. He managed a total of 84 goal contributions with 58 goals and 26 assists, being the most prolific foreign player in Indian Super League history in terms of goal contributions.

Sunil Chhetri has been a mainstay in the Indian Super League since the second season itself, having initially begun his career with Mumbai City. However, he’s been a strong pillar for Bengaluru FC throughout their stint in the Indian Super League and enjoyed a lot of success with them as well. After scoring seven goals during his time at Mumbai City, the majority of his goal contributions have come for the Blues. Chhetri’s most prolific campaigns in the ISL were actually the 2017-18 season (Bengaluru FC’s first season in Indian Super League in which he scored 14 goals, and he also scored 14 goals in the 2024-25 season.
The Bengaluru FC skipper has maintained amazing consistency in terms of delivering goals in the ISL, having scored 75 goals to be the highest-scoring player in Indian Super League history. He also has the highest number of goal contributions at 88, which includes 75 goals and 13 assists.
