It was an action-packed game with a lot of drama in store.

The first game of Super Sunday’s Indian Super League (ISL) double header witnessed NorthEast United FC wrap up their third victory of the season in a hard-fought contest against Odisha FC. The Highlanders went 2-0 up before half-time thanks to their magic man Alaeddine Ajaraie.

Hugo Boumous pulled a goal back before Guillermo came off the bench and scored the third goal. Diego Mauricio pulled one more goal back, but it wasn’t enough to avoid a defeat in Guwahati.

In the second game, Mumbai City FC tore Kerala Blasters apart in the City of Dreams and secured their second win of the season.

The Islanders scored two goals before the Blasters pulled two goals back in quick succession. But, then the visitors were reduced to 10 men after Kwame Peprah received his marching orders. Nathan Rodrigues and Lallainzuala Chhangte scored a goal each to wrap up a 4-2 win.

A brief look at the points table

Bengaluru FC remain at the top of the Indian Super League (ISL) table with 16 points in hand followed by Mohun Bagan at second with 13 points. Punjab FC and Jamshedpur FC are ranked third and fourth on the table respectively with 12 points each.NorthEast United have reclaimed the fifth spot and now have 11 points to their name.

FC Goa have slipped down to the sixth position. Mumbai City FC have jumped up to the seventh position and Chennaiyin FC have dropped to eighth. Odisha FC have been relegated to the ninth position while Kerala Blasters now find themselves in tenth. Hyderabad FC continue to be at eleventh. Mohammedan SC and East Bengal are still at the bottom of the table after six matches.
