The Shers are looking to stave off possible suitors for their top stars.
Indian Super League (ISL) club Punjab FC are expected to demand huge transfer fees for defensive midfielder Nikhil Prabhu and left-back Tekcham Abhishek Singh. The Shers are adamant about keeping their two young, promising stars.
Sources told Khel Now’s Ashish Negi that the Shers reportedly will entertain offers near the Rs. 2 crore-mark for each player.
With several ISL clubs on the hunt for promising Indian talents, Abhishek and Nikhil have emerged as two players on every shortlist. Punjab FC are very keen to extend both players’ contracts and remain determined not to lose two of their high-quality and potential players for cheap ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Nikhil Prabhu has impressed for the Shers in last two seasons
The 24-year-old had a standout season for the Shers. He started the year with an impressive showing in the 2024 Durand Cup, making four appearances and contributing two assists in those games.
While Punjab had an overall disappointing season, things could have been much worse if Prabhu was not in the team. He was a key player in their early-season form, where they won four out of their first five games, playing the entire 90 minutes in all of those games.
The Shers’ faith can also be recognised by the fact that the club also handed him the captain’s armband in a couple of games during the 2024-25 season. He was also rewarded with his first national team call-up for the upcoming June international window.
Can Tekcham Abhishek Singh develop into a superstar for Punjab FC?

The Shers are also looking to keep hold of rising star left-back Tekcham Abhishek Singh. The 20-year-old proved he belongs in the senior team in the recently concluded 2024-25 ISL campaign.
Abhishek also showed his versatility this season while playing as a right-back, left midfielder and centre back this season. His promotion followed his impressive display with the Punjab FC U21 squad, where he scored two goals in three games.
While both players have unique and versatile skill-sets, ISL clubs will be testing the resolve of Punjab FC this off-season. With the base price tag of Rs. 2 crores slapped on each player, the Shers have clearly stated their intentions to ward off interested Indian football clubs.
