Punjab FC vs Chennai in FC: All-time Head-to-Head record

Punjab FC will be the favourites against a struggling Chennaiyin FC side
With just three games to go in their 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season, Chennaiyin FC will be looking for their campaign to end, hoping that they don’t get relegated. Having picked up 9 points in 10 games, the Marina Machans are 12th in the points table, six points ahead of Mohammedan SC.
Clifford Miranda’s side has shown glimpses of good football; however, they have been far from their best, especially in attack. CFC have scored just 7 goals in 10 games, and has not scored more than one goal in any of their games.
In comparison, Punjab FC’s top scorer, Nsungusi Effiong, has scored 7 ISL goals on his own for his club. The Nigerian has been the star of the show for PFC, and has played an important role in what has been the Shers’ best ISL campaign so far.
The North Indian club has 15 points in 9 games and is mathematically still in contention to win the league. With games against East Bengal and Mumbai City FC coming up soon, Punjab will be hungry to win against Chennaiyin FC and boost their confidence.
Punjab FC would be the favourites at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi!

Punjab FC and Chennaiyin FC first squared off against each other in the 2023-24 ISL season. CFC beat the ISL debutants 5-1 at the Marina Arena in what was a statement win. The Shers however got the better of Chennaiyin at home in the reverse fixture, upsetting them 1-0 in Delhi.
The two clubs then faced off in the 2023-24 Kalinga Super Cup after they were pitted together in Group C. This time around, the two teams played out a 1-1 draw. The result didn’t help both teams as they were eliminated in the group stage.
The 2024-25 season saw Punjab pick up a 3-2 win against CFC at home, in what was an entertaining match. Chennai would get their revenge later that season as they beat the Shers 2-1 at the Marina Arena as Daniel Chima Chukwu got a late goal.
Historically the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi has not been a happy hunting ground for Chennaiyin FC. Aside from consecutive losses to Punjab FC, the Marina Machans also had a dismal record in Delhi against Delhi Dynamos in the ISL, having lost thrice and drawn twice in their five attempts.
