Yadav’s contract with Bengaluru FC is set to expire following the end of the season.
Bengaluru FC’s 22-year-old rising star Robin Yadav is on the verge of signing a multi-year deal with NorthEast United, as confirmed by sources close to Khel Now. The talented defender’s contract with Bengaluru is set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 Indian Super League season.
Despite his young age, Robin has already caught the eye of several ISL clubs with his promising performances. Multiple ISL clubs as well as Bengaluru FC offered him a contract. However, it is NorthEast United’s project that has ultimately attracted him the most, with sources suggesting that their vision for his development surpasses that of the other interested teams. His good relationship with his former coach and current NortEast United assistant Noushad Moosa were the reasons behind Robin’s move to Guwahati.
In response to the news, sources close to Khel Now stated, “Multiple ISL clubs were looking to sign him, but NorthEast United’s project was better compared to the other teams. Consequently, a possibility of more playing time at NorthEast prompted his decision.”
Robin’s journey with Bengaluru FC in the 2023-24 ISL season has been characterized by limited playing time, as he’s amassed just 237 minutes across six games. Despite this, his potential and talent have not gone unnoticed and the Highlanders” keen interest in securing his services highlights his potential as a player.
Season thus far for Bengaluru FC
Bengaluru FC, on the other hand, have faced challenges throughout the campaign and find themselves out of contention for a playoffs spot after a torrid season, where the Blues were unable to register a single victory away from home.
The Blues take on ISL League Winners’ Shield aspirants Mohun Bagan who will need to secure three points to stay in the hunt for the prized title. Gerard Zaragoza would be willing to spoil the party and give the supporters something to cheer about as the season for the JSW-owned outfit draws to a close.
