Hyderabad FC's Shameel Chembakath explains the reason behind the defeat against North East United

Shameel Chembakath’s side faced a defeat of 4-1 against the Highlanders
Shameel Chembakath’s Hyderabad FC suffered a defeat of 4-1 against NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Wednesday.
NorthEast United FC delivered a dominant performance against Hyderabad FC, securing a convincing win. Guillermo Fernandez opened the scoring, followed by a stunning free-kick from Alaaeddine Ajaraie just before halftime while two second-half goals from Asheer Akhtar and Mohammed Ali Bemammer sealed the victory.
Despite a late consolation goal from Manoj Mohammed, NorthEast United FC’s defence held firm, denying The Nawabs any chance of a comeback. Hyderabad FC’s interim Head Coach Shameel Chembakath spoke to the media at the post-match press conference expressing his dissatisfaction.
Coach Shameel’s thoughts
While clearly frustrated with the outcome, Coach Shameel Chembakath acknowledged the effort and determination shown by his players. He stressed that while the result was far from ideal, the team’s commitment and resilience were positives to build upon moving forward.
“I think overall players are giving their best, I think, but of course the results are disappointing. But I think it’s just a learning experience for us. I think in the first half we just slipped off. I think the first goal was just a silly mistake and the second one, I don’t think that it’s a foul. I think these two goals just slipped off our game from the first half itself.” He stated.
“And you know, North East is a very strong team and it is difficult to stop them. They have some key players, they have some strong players and they have some aggressive strategies. Anyway, this is just a learning experience to take away for the next matches.” He added.
“I think every training session, we have worked hard. Every mistake is what we are having on the matches.I think players are focused on being more productive. I think many of the matches if you see, we are making more on defensive mistakes, which we wanted to work more upon .”
“But apart from attacking, we are creating more chances. We are keeping the ball. And there are a lot of final third entries are there. And I think it will take time, of course. They are the young players and there are some good experienced players also there, but it will take time for sure.” He concluded.
