Shameel Chembakath spoke about the importance of proper team management and consistency.
Hyderabad FC interim head coach Shameel Chembakath expressed his disappointment following the team’s heavy 5-2 defeat to NorthEast United FC in the Indian Super League (ISL). The result marked a further setback in their ongoing struggle to find consistency this season as the Nawabs continue to remain winless at their home ground.
NorthEast United FC staged a stunning comeback against the Nawabs. Guillermo Fernández’s brace, own goals by Lenny Rodriguez and Alex Saji and strikes from Alaaddine Ajaraie proved to be too much for Hyderabad FC to handle.
The home side struggled to contain NorthEast United FC’s attacking power, conceding goals from set-pieces and displaying defensive lapses throughout the match.
Despite a promising start with two early goals from Edmilson Correia, the Nawabs could not maintain their momentum, especially in the second half.
Speaking about the first half, coach Shameel Chembakath commented: “Well, the first 10 minutes and if you go through the first 45 minutes, the first half was very positive. And leading 2-1 was one of the best things. The players played how we wanted to play, how we expected them to play. There are some things that they need to understand when we’re leading. In some scenarios, we need to concentrate and try to mature our game management especially. That is more important.”
“And of course that consistency in the level of back, when you are not scoring, when you are leading, how we need to be stable, how we need to be balanced on the more important defense. I think most of the goals, if you see, there are a lot of rebounds, reflections and set pieces,” Shameel Chembakath stated.
“If you see, we were keeping the ball well, but most of the final passes, final moments, some of the players were just giving away. That is one of the parts which we wanted to improve. Otherwise, if you see, North East, it was a very good comeback for them,” Shameel Chembakath opined.
Hyderabad FC will need to regroup quickly as they face East Bengal FC on 28th December at home.
“For now, We need to step onto the training pitch, focus on improvement, and bounce back in the next match,” Shameel Chembakath concluded.
