By starting this final, the four players become the first set of players to play in four ISL finals for the same team in the competition. Gurpreet and Chhetri have been regular pillars for the Bengaluru FC side since the club made their debut during the 2017-18 ISL season.

The Blues were able to storm into the ISL Final in their first campaign itself. They had defeated FC Pune City in the semi-finals to book a place against Chennaiyin FC in the final. However, the Blues suffered a damning 3-2 loss in the final, despite Sunil Chhetri having scored in his first-ever ISL final.

Bengaluru FC were, however, able to redeem themselves in the 2018/19 ISL final. They faced off against FC Goa in the final after defeating NorthEast United in the semis. They went onto win the ISL final, thanks to a late goal from Rahul Bheke in extra-time.

Sunil Chhetri and Gurpreet featured in their third ISL final for Bengaluru FC in the 2022/23 ISL final. They faced off against the Mariners, with Sunil Chhetri scoring a late penalty in the first half. The game needed 2-2 in normal time, before a penalty shootout was forced, in which the Kolkata giants prevailed. This will be the fourth ISL final in which the Bengaluru FC duo play for their side.
