Thaer Krouma has made seven appearances to date for the Islanders in the ISL.

Thaer Krouma, a Syrian defender for Mumbai City FC, was called up to the national camp ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers. The 34-year-old defender can provide Syria’s backline the much-needed threshold because of his wealth of experience. The Islanders defender has played 38 games for his country so far.

Syria’s fairytale run in the AFC Asian Cup came to an end in the Round of 16, as they lost 5-3 in penalties to a 10-man Iran. The team’s performance was much discussed.

The AFC Asian Cup, the continental showcase of the Asian Football Confederation, came to an end less than a month ago. The reigning champions, Qatar, lifted the trophy for the second time in a row after defeating Jordan 3-1. Jordan’s incredible tournament journey ended with them finishing second. After a month-long hiatus, Asia’s footballing prowess returns to the forefront, showcasing the splendour of Asian football once more.

With Thaer Krouma, an accomplished defender, partnering with Aiham Osou, the Nosour Qasioun proved to be the surprise team of the AFC Asian Cup Group B. The Asian underdogs will undoubtedly be eager to provide more attacking options for their front-runners. However, it doesn’t appear that their defensive concerns are a problem this time with Thaer Krouma joining the camp ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers.
