ISL 2024-25: Top five Indian players from Matchweek 7

Several new Indian players performed well in this week’s ISL showdown.
Matchweek 7 of the Indian Super League (ISL) delivered another round of thrilling matches, showcasing the talents of Indian players who played pivotal roles in their teams’ successes.
Mohun Bagan stamped their authority over Hyderabad FC with a 0-2 win while Punjab FC came from behind in Delhi to register a 3-2 win against Chennaiyin FC. Manolo Marquez’s FC Goa stopped Bengaluru FC‘s winning run by defeating the Blues 3-0 at home.
NorthEast United FC played out an entertaining game against Odisha FC and came out as eventual winners winning the game 3-2. Mumbai City FC tamed the Kerala Blasters at home by winning a fixture 4-2.
In the last game of the Match Week, Stephen Eze less Jamshedpur FC were humbled at their own by Chennaiyin FC where the visiting side scored five goals in comparison to a solitary goal scored by the Red Miners.
With notable performances across the board, here are the top five Indian players from this week’s action.
5) Subhashish Bose (Mohun Bagan)
Subhashish Bose put in an exceptional performance as the captain of Mohun Bagan, leading his side to a solid 2-0 victory over Hyderabad FC.
The defender was instrumental in both defensive duties and attack, contributing significantly to his team’s success. Bose made an impressive 8 clearances, along with an interception and a recovery, showcasing his defensive prowess throughout the match.
Adding to his stellar performance, he also scored a goal that sealed the win for Mohun Bagan, demonstrating his ability to step up when it mattered most. Bose’s leadership and all-around display made him a standout performer this week.
4) Khaminthiang Lhungdim (Punjab FC)
Khaminthiang Lhungdim was a key player for Punjab FC in their thrilling 3-2 comeback win against Chennaiyin FC. Lhungdim was a constant threat going forward, showing remarkable energy and skill as he contributed to the attack. His involvement was crucial in overturning the deficit in the first half, as he not only defended solidly but also provided an assist for the second goal, showcasing his offensive capabilities.
Unfortunately, Lhungdim had to be substituted due to an arm injury, but his performance before that highlighted his importance to the team. His relentless work ethic and defensive acumen made him a vital asset for Punjab FC.
3) Mohammed Yasir (FC Goa)
Mohammed Yasir was a standout performer for FC Goa in their impressive 3-0 victory over Bengaluru FC. Yasir’s ability to draw defenders towards him allowed for better opportunities for his teammates, showcasing his football intelligence and tactical awareness.
He played an important role in the first goal, using his presence of mind to square the ball to Armando, who opened the scoring for Goa. His contributions in both creating chances and helping maintain possession were essential in establishing dominance over the Blues.

2) Irfan Yadwad (Chennaiyin FC)
Irfan Yadwad emerged as the top player of the week with a standout performance against Jamshedpur FC, where he scored his first goal of the season.
Under the guidance of coach Owen Coyle, Yadwad has established himself as a key figure for Chennaiyin, displaying consistent performances that have earned him praise.
His goal against Jamshedpur not only showcased his finishing ability but also highlighted his growth as a player this season. The recognition from national team coach Manolo Marquez, who called him up for a friendly against Malaysia, makes him an exciting prospect for the future
1) Lallianzuala Chhangte (Mumbai City FC)
Lallianzuala Chhangte continued to shine as the captain of Mumbai City FC in their exciting 4-2 victory over Kerala Blasters.
The Mizo winger was at the heart of Mumbai’s attack, contributing with both a goal and an assist in the match. His pace and dribbling ability consistently troubled the Blasters’ defense, and he played a significant role in linking up with his teammates to create scoring opportunities.
Chhangte scored a goal and an assist in the six-goal thriller at the Mumbai Football Arena. His ability to perform under pressure once again solidified his status as unarguably the best Indian attacker in the current times.
