From defensive masterclasses to game-changing saves, these players proved their caliber and solidified their importance in their respective teams.
The game week started with FC Goa coming in from behind against Punjab FC to register back-to-back wins at home. Hyderabad FC surprised Kerala Blasters at Kochi by defeating them at the JLN stadium in Kochi. Bengaluru FC nearly survived their second stumble on the road with a last-gasp equalizer by Ryan Williams against NorthEast United FC.
East Bengal and Mohammedan SC played a goalless draw where the home side salvaged a draw despite being down to 9 men. Mumbai traveled to Chennai and played a 1-1 draw against Chennaiyin FC and the same result was repeated in the game between Odisha FC and Mohun Bagan SG.
Here are the top five Indian players from this week.
5) Apuia Ralte (Mohun Bagan)
Apuia Ralte continued to impress in Mohun Bagan’s 1-1 draw against Odisha FC at the Kalinga Stadium. The Mizo defensive midfielder showcased his defensive instincts, managing to disrupt Odisha’s attack despite the opposition’s fluid passing and movement. Apuia made impressive nine recoveries, and five interceptions and added a clearance to his tally.
His positional awareness and ability to read the game allowed him to shield the backline effectively, keeping Odisha’s aggressive play in check. Apuia’s tireless work rate in midfield has proven instrumental for Mohun Bagan, and his game-changing defensive efforts were crucial in salvaging a point for his team.
4) Parag Shrivas (Hyderabad FC)
Hyderabad FC’s Parag Shrivas put in a rock-solid defensive performance that played a vital role in their remarkable win over Kerala Blasters. Parag was instrumental with eleven defensive actions, including six recoveries, four clearances, two interceptions, and a block.
He was a constant presence in Hyderabad’s defense, maintaining composure and handling the Kerala attack with ease. Parag’s resilience at the back kept the home side at bay, and his defensive work helped Hyderabad secure a well-fought win. His strong performance adds another highlight to his season, making him one of the most reliable Indian defenders in the league so far.

Anwar’s composed defending under pressure was crucial in preventing Mohammedan from capitalizing on their numerical advantage and helped his side salvage a draw
2) Nathan Asher Rodrigues (Mumbai City FC)
Nathan Asher Rodrigues stepped up impressively for Mumbai City FC against Chennaiyin, marking his presence with a crucial goal. Originally seen as a squad player at the start of the season, Rodrigues seized his opportunity after injury to left back Akash Mishra meant the spot was open at Mumbai City in the defence.
Despite competition from experienced players like Sahil Panwar Hardik Bhatt and Stalin Sanjeev, Nathan earned his spot and justified the trust of his coach Petr Kratky.
His goal, the only one for his side, demonstrated his offensive potential and composure in critical moments. Rodrigues’s performance against Chennaiyin was a breakthrough, showing he could be a vital player for Mumbai City and underscoring his potential for the rest of the season.
