Top five players with most clean sheets in an ISL season

Vishal Kaith features twice in the list of players with most clean sheets in an ISL season.
Vishal Kaith maintained his reputation as the most reliable goalkeeper in the Indian Super League (ISL) by keeping a solid clean sheet in Mohun Bagan’s 3-0 thrashing of Punjab FC. In doing so, he was able to keep his 12th clean sheet of the 2024-25 season breaking the record for most clean sheets in an ISL season.
This was Vishal Kaith’s 51st clean sheet in Mohun Bagan colours. Ahead of the game, he was presented with a special trophy as a way of celebrating his 50 shutouts for the Mariners. Kaith has proven himself as a formidable figure in between the posts for Mohun Bagan, consistently churning out clean sheets season after season.
He also features in the list of players with most clean sheets in a singe ISL campaign. Here we look at the top five players with most clean sheets in one ISL season.
5. Amrinder Singh (10 clean sheets)– 2020/21 campaign

Amrinder Singh played a significant role in Mumbai City’s success during his stint with them before he joined Odisha FC. However, the best campaign that he had on a personal level was definitely the 2020-21 season with the Islanders. In this season, he helped them win both the ISL league shield title and also defeat Mohun Bagan in the ISL final to win both trophies.
What was equally impressive is that he did that by keeping 10 clean sheets in 23 matches for the Islanders. That marked the most number of clean sheets that Amrinder has managed in a single campaign in his career. He ended up missing out on the Golden Glove award by a whisker but saw his clean sheets help his side reign supreme where it mattered the most.
4. Arindam Bhattacharya (10 clean sheets)– 2020/21 campaign
Before Kaith took over as the Mohun Bagan no.1, Arindam Bhattacharya was the trusted person in goal for them. The goalkeeper arguably had his best campaign in the ISL in the 2020-21 campaign after he was trusted to excel in goal by Antonio Habas. Arindam utilized his sharp reflexes to make key saves in every game, helping the Mariners stay close to Mumbai City FC in the title race.
He ended up keeping 10 clean sheets in the entire campaign, the joint-most for any goalkeeper in the ISL. Bhattacharya ended up winning the Golden Glove award at the end of the season for conceding fewer goals than his competitior Amrinder Singh, with the Bengali goalkeeper earning much-deserved accolades for his heroics.
3. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (11 clean sheets) – 2019/20 campaign

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu has been the India no.1 for many years now, and that is because of his consistency at the very top. The Bengaluru FC man might be experiencing some issues in the 2024-25 season, but he was at his very best in the 2019-20 campaign. Sandhu helped the Blues maintain a mean defensive record in that campaign, only conceding 13 goals in the 18 league phase matches.
Even though Bengaluru FC were knocked out in the semi-finals, Sandhu had a campaign to be proud off. He kept 11 clean sheets in 20 matches for them, which helped him sail his way to win the Golden Glove award.
2. Vishal Kaith (11 clean sheets) – 2022-23 campaign

Vishal Kaith might be flying high on confidence right now, but he started to earn the adoration of Mohun Bagan fans with his heroics in the 2020-23 season. He proved that the Mariners were right to bring him in as Amrinder Singh’s replacement, turning out to be an upgrade over him. Kaith’s excellent reflexes and shot-stopping ability helped him maintain one of the strongest defensive records for Mohun Bagan in that campaign.
He ended up keeping 11 clean sheets in the entirety of the season, which included three in the ISL playoffs. Kaith’s crowning moment came in the ISL final, when he saved a crucial penalty in the shootout against Bengaluru FC to help his side win the title. His 11 clean sheets also helped him win the ISL Golden Glove relatively easily.
1. Vishal Kaith (12* clean sheets) – 2024-25 campaign
Kaith is enjoying a fantastic 2024-25 season for Mohun Bagan, helping them keep the best defensive record by a big margin. Indeed, the Mariners have only conceded 14 goals in 20 matches so far and the 28-year-old goalkeeper has been able to keep 12 clean sheets in that period as well. This is the joint-highest Kaith has managed in a single ISL campaign, but he looks set to break his own record very soon.
Mohun Bagan are going to play four more league phase matches and at least a few more in the playoffs, giving the goalkeeper an opportunity to get many more clean sheets. He could comfortably end the campaign with 15+ clean sheets to set a formidable record for most clean sheets kept by a goalkeeper in one campaign.
