Top five SC Delhi players to watch out for in ISL 2026-27 season
Sporting Club Delhi are all set to begin their ISL campaign against Bengaluru FC
Sporting Club Delhi will enter the 2026-27 Indian Super League season looking to build on the promise they showed in the Durand Cup. After a difficult debut campaign in the ISL, the Delhi-based outfit will be eager to establish themselves as a more competitive side under head coach Tomasz Tchórz.
With a mix of promising Indian talent and exciting attacking options, SC Delhi have several players who could play a crucial role in their campaign.
SC Delhi offered plenty of reasons for optimism in the 135th Durand Cup, reaching the semi-finals after an impressive group-stage campaign. They won all three of their group matches, finishing with nine points, before producing a remarkable second-half comeback to defeat FC Raengdai 5-1 in the quarter-finals.
Their run eventually ended against East Bengal FC, with the semi-final finishing goalless before SC Delhi lost 5-3 on penalties.
For SC Delhi, the challenge now is to carry that attacking confidence into the ISL, where consistency across the campaign will matter far more than a few standout performances. Their Durand Cup run has offered a glimpse of what this squad can produce, and these five players could be central to their ambitions this season.
5. Juan Sebastián Peña

Juan Sebastián Peña could be an important creative presence for SC Delhi in the upcoming campaign. The Colombian midfielder showcased his attacking qualities during the Durand Cup, scoring twice in the 7-1 victory over the Indian Air Force and contributing another goal against Defenders FC.
His ability to find space in dangerous areas and contribute to the team’s attacking moves makes him an interesting player to watch. If Peña can maintain that form in the ISL, he could provide SC Delhi with an additional source of goals and creativity alongside their forward line.
4.Lalrinliana Hnamte
Lalrinliana Hnamte’s arrival has added quality and energy to SC Delhi’s midfield. The former India U-23 captain made an immediate impact during the Durand Cup, scoring twice on his debut to help his side come from behind and defeat Jamshedpur FC 2-1.
He continued his impressive run in the tournament, finding the net again in the 7-1 win over the Indian Air Force.
A defensive midfielder by nature, Hnamte offers more than just protection in front of the defence. His ability to contribute in the final third adds another dimension to his game, while his experience at the youth international level brings leadership to the squad.
At 23, he is entering an important stage of his development, and the ISL will provide him with an opportunity to establish himself as one of the league’s promising Indian midfielders.

3. Mohammed Aimen
Mohammed Aimen is another Indian attacker who could play a significant role in SC Delhi’s campaign. The winger possesses the ability to trouble opposition defences and contribute directly to the team’s attacking output. He scored against Defenders FC during SC Delhi’s 7-0 Durand Cup victory and also found the net in their 3-0 ISL win over NorthEast United FC last season.
Aimen’s experience in the ISL, combined with his ability to make an impact in the final third, makes him an important option for head coach Tomasz Tchórz. His movement and attacking intent can help stretch opposition defences, creating opportunities for teammates while allowing him to threaten the goal himself.
With SC Delhi looking to become more consistent in front of goal, Aimen will be expected to build on his previous performances and deliver a greater contribution throughout the season.
2. Joseph Sunny
Joseph Sunny emerged as one of SC Delhi’s most effective attacking options during the Durand Cup, demonstrating his ability to make a decisive impact when his team needs him.
His performance in the quarter-final against FC Raengdai was particularly memorable, as he came off the bench to score twice in the second half and inspire a 5-1 comeback victory after SC Delhi had fallen behind before the interval.
The forward has also demonstrated his goalscoring ability in the ISL. Sunny scored twice in a 3-0 victory over NorthEast United FC in April 2026, underlining his potential to deliver against league opposition. His ability to find space inside the penalty area and capitalise on scoring opportunities makes him a valuable option in attack.
If he can translate his cup performances into consistent league contributions, he could become one of the club’s most important Indian forwards this season.
1. Rodriguinho
Rodriguinho is arguably the most exciting attacking prospect in SC Delhi’s squad heading into the new ISL season. The Brazilian forward announced himself in spectacular fashion during the Durand Cup, scoring five goals in a single match as SC Delhi defeated Defenders FC 7-0.
His remarkable performance showcased his finishing ability and capacity to turn attacking opportunities into goals.
He continued to contribute during the tournament, scoring in the 7-1 win over the Indian Air Force and finding the net again in the quarter-final victory against FC Raengdai.
Beyond his goalscoring, Rodriguinho offers individual skill, the ability to take on defenders and the creativity to manufacture chances in the final third. These qualities could make him a constant threat to opposition defences.
