This ISL gameweek was full of impressive individual performances.

Another Indian Super League (ISL 2023-24) gameweek came to an end with a lot of interesting takeaways and performances. Chennaiyin FC caused a huge upset by beating Mohun Bagan SG while Mumbai City FC took a giant step towards winning the ISL Shield, thanks to impressive performances from their respective players.

Indian players were particularly in a good vein of form in the past week despite difficult weather conditions making it a challenge to play football. As another entertaining ISL round of matches from the league stage comes to an end, here is a look at the players who made it to Khel Now’s Team of the Week for gameweek 20:

Formation – 3-5-2

Goalkeeper: Debjit Majumder (Chennaiyin FC)

Debjit Majumder played his heart out in Chennaiyin FC’s iconic 3-2 win away from home against Mohun Bagan SG. The custodian made 12 saves with six from inside the box to aid his team in securing three points.

Centre-back: Ryan Edwards (Chennaiyin FC)

Ryan Edwards delivered a captain’s performance in Chennaiyin FC’s win over the Mariners in the latter’s backyard. The defender contributed by scoring a towering-headed goal from a corner situation.

Centre-back: Mehtab Singh (Mumbai City FC)

Mumbai City FC’s Mehtab Singh was on the scoresheet in the past week. The centre-back also kept things tight at the back in a 3-0 win over a struggling Hyderabad FC.

Centre-back: Carlos Delgado (Odisha FC)

Carlos Delgado was in superb form in Odisha FC’s 3-1 win over Punjab FC. He finished the game with a 97% passing accuracy and made a key clearance off the goal line.

Central Midfielder: Saul Crespo (East Bengal)

Saul Crespo scored a sensational brace against Kerala Blasters to help East Bengal secure three crucial points in a 4-2 win away from home. The midfielder scored the equaliser from the penalty spot at the stroke of half time and gave his team the lead in the 71st minute.

Central Midfielder: Ayush Adhikari (Chennaiyin FC)

Ayush Adhikari made a huge impact from the bench for the Marina Machans. The midfielder delivered the crucial assist for Irfan Yadwad’s late injury-time winner that secured three points for the travelling party.

Right Midfielder: Lallianzuala Chhangte (Mumbai City FC)

Lallianzuala Chhangte continued his goal-scoring feats in the ongoing ISL season with his fifth strike of the campaign. He opened the scoring for the Islanders in a 3-0 win over the Nizams.

Left Midfielder: Isak Vanlalruatfela (Odisha FC)

Isak Vanlalruatfela had a wonderful outing for Odisha FC in their 3-1 win over Punjab FC. The tenacious winger scored in the 61st minute to give his team the lead and allow them to regain momentum in the second half.

Central Attacking Midfielder: Naorem Mahesh Singh (East Bengal)

Naorem Mahesh Singh scored a memorable brace for East Bengal in their 4-2 win over Kerala Blasters in Kochi. Thanks to this result, hopes of qualifying for the ISL 2023-24 playoffs are still alive for Carles Cuadrat’s team.

Striker: Vikram Partap Singh (Mumbai City FC)

Vikram Partap Singh was a nuisance for Hyderabad FC and kept on knocking on the proverbial door. He delivered an assist in a brilliant all-round performance that led to a 3-0 win for the Islanders. 

Striker: Diego Mauricio (Odisha FC)

Diego Mauricio scored two goals in Odisha FC’s 3-1 win over Punjab FC. The brace took the striker’s tally for the ISL season to nine goals from 19 appearances.
