Lalengmawia Ralte and Ayush Dev Chhetri were awarded by Sports & Youth Services Minister and Aizawl West-II MLA, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar.

Sports & Youth Services Minister and Aizawl West-II MLA, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, hosted a felicitation ceremony today at his MINECO office chamber to honour two footballers from his constituency—Lalengmawia Ralte (Vaivakawn), 2024–25 Indian Super League (ISL) champion with Mohun Bagan SG, and Ayush Dev Chhetri (Dinthar), 2025 Super Cup winner with FC Goa.

The Minister expressed his pride, stating, “Today, our footballers deserve celebration not just for excelling at club level, but also for earning their place in the India national team. While many footballers rise through elite academies, these two have charted their path from Mizoram. They show others can do the same.”

“Mizoram has immense talent, and these players reflect the steady growth of our football culture. Not everyone may reach the top, but for those with discipline, skill, and resolve, football can bring recognition and honour to the state,” he added.

Apuia, who played 27 matches this season for Mohun Bagan and delivered key playoff performances, said, “Whether it’s winning the ISL or representing India, it means a lot to be honoured at home by our Sports Minister.”

Reflecting on his journey, he added, “A good academy helps, but discipline and perseverance to push through challenges, even by oneself, is what matters the most.”

Ayush Chhetri, who played 26 matches and scored once for FC Goa, earned his first India call-up earlier this year and debuted against Maldives.

The Minister presented both players with a citation and a token of appreciation, urging them to continue inspiring youth and supporting grassroots football in their communities. Family members, MFA leaders, and the press attended the event.
