ISL: Update on Mehtab Singh & Rahul Bheke’s future amid transfer links

Mehtab Singh and Rahul Bheke have won numerous titles in Indian football
Indian football’s summer transfer window for 2025 is set to open on June 12. Clubs across the Indian Super League (ISL) have already begun to put their plans into action for a pivotal two-and-a-half-month period of squad building.
The window, which closes on August 31, will give teams ample time to reinforce their rosters ahead of the 2025–26 season. In preparation, several ISL clubs have already begun reshaping their squads, releasing players to free up valuable space for fresh arrivals.
As the countdown to the new campaign intensifies, so too does the transfer buzz, with speculation swirling around a number of high-profile moves. Among the names making headlines are seasoned Indian defenders Rahul Bheke and Mehtab Singh – two experienced campaigners reportedly on the radar of multiple clubs.
What is Rahul Bheke’s situation with Bengaluru FC
As revealed on Khel Now TV’s latest episode of Inside Indian Football, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan Super Giant are linked with a potential move for Rahul Bheke. The Bengaluru FC defender rejoined the club from Mumbai City in 2024 and was a key part of the Blues last season.
Rahul Bheke helped his side keep 10 clean sheets in 26 league games, making 126 clearances and 16 blocks in defence. On the attacking front, the 34-year-old BFC veteran notched up three important goals, helping his side reach the ISL final.
As stated by Ashish Negi, Bengaluru FC are in no mood to let go of Bheke this summer. The Blues have not set an asking price, and they are not looking to entertain any offers or negotiations for their defender.
Rahul Bheke has a year remaining in his contract with Bengaluru FC as his current deal will run out in June 2026. Hence, as of now, the talks of a potential transfer are completely stalled. It has to be seen if things could change in the later part of the transfer window.
Is Mehtab Singh staying with Mumbai City FC?
Mumbai City are eyeing to rebuild their squad after finishing sixth in the 2024-25 ISL season. The Islanders have already let go of Nikolaos Karelis, Yoell Van Nieff, Jayesh Rane, and a few other players and it seems like they will be busy in the transfer window.
Indian national team player Mehtab Singh is another MCFC player who is linked with other ISL clubs. The 26-year-old played a key role for the former ISL Cup winners, keeping 10 clean sheets and making 19 blocks in 23 ISL games last season.
Mehtab still has one year remaining in his contract with the Islanders and as revealed on Khel Now TV’s Inside Indian Football, the club wants to extend the defender’s stay. Mumbai City are in talks with the player regarding a new contract. However, the terms have not been agreed upon.
The 26-year-old is reportedly looking for a long-term contract. While an extension is yet to be penned down, it seems more than likely that Mehtab Singh might continue with his current club.
