IWL 2025: Full fixtures, schedule, results, standings & more

The new IWL season will see eight teams fighting for the title.

The Indian Women’s League (IWL) is all set for a return with its latest edition starting January 10 onwards. The top-tier women’s competition will kick start the proceedings for its edition with a clash between defending champions Odisha FC and the league’s most successful outfit Gokulam Kerala FC in God’s own country. 

We will witness the inclusion of the two new teams into the IWL namely Sreebhumi FC from West Bengal and NITA Football Academy from Odisha. The inclusion of these two teams makes the upcoming edition an interesting affair with an increased level of competition and intensity.

About the competition

Planned in 2014 with the aim to promote women’s football in the country, the Indian Women’s League kickstarted its first edition in 2016 following the success of the Indian women’s football team. The league was introduced as India’s first professional football league for women to increase the number of players for the Indian national football team. 

The IWL also serves as a qualifier to select India’s representation in the AFC Women’s Club Championship, the top tier of women’s club football in Asia starting from the 2019–20 season. India’s top tier hosted its first edition with just six teams where Eastern Sporting Union became the inaugural champions. As of now, the league is the driving force behind the success of the Indian national team on the international stage.

Format

The 2025 IWL will follow a double round-robin format, with each team playing the other twice, once at home and once away.
