Jamshedpur FC hosts Grassroots Football Festival at Loyola School. The event, tailored for children under the age of 5 and 7, aimed at introducing the beautiful game to the youngest enthusiasts. On a vibrant Monday morning, the grounds of Loyola School buzzed with excitement as 750 energetic kids flooded the venue, ready to immerse themselves in the world of football.
Among them, 500 children belonged to the U7 category, while 250 youngsters fell under the U5 bracket. The sheer magnitude of participation underscored the eagerness and potential present in the community.
Kundan Chandra, Head of Grassroots at Jamshedpur FC, expressed immense pleasure at the overwhelming turnout. He remarked, “Witnessing such enthusiastic participation from young boys and girls is truly gratifying. Our objective is to involve as many children as we can in fundamental grassroots training, focusing on agility, balance, coordination, and decision-making from an early stage. This approach ensures they grasp the essential elements of the sport.”
The festival, meticulously organized by Jamshedpur FC, was more than just a sporting event; it was a platform for fostering a deep-seated passion for football among the youth. With engaging activities, the young participants were introduced to the fundamentals of the sport in a fun and accessible manner. From basic ball-handling skills to fun games, every aspect of the festival was designed to ignite the spirit of camaraderie and competition.
Observing the exuberance of children engaged in play on the field, Ms. Vineeta F Ekka, Vice Principal of Loyola Junior section, remarked, “Extracurricular activities, particularly sports, contribute significantly to a child’s holistic development. Jamshedpur FC’s Grassroots program plays a pivotal role in instilling essential values like discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among Loyola’s students, which are integral for their future growth. Today, we witnessed first-hand the joy and educational value derived by the children from this experience.”
At its core, the Grassroots Football Festival aligns perfectly with Jamshedpur FC’s overarching vision of developing homegrown talent. By reaching out to children at such a tender age, the club not only identifies potential future stars but also instils invaluable values of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship from the outset. Through sustained efforts in grassroots initiatives, the club aims to build a robust pipeline of local players who can eventually don the prestigious Jamshedpur FC jersey.
