Thrissur Roar join hands with A-League club Brisbane Roar
Thrissur Roar will participate in the inaugural edition of the Kerala Super League.
Football fans and enthusiasts in God’s own country Kerala now have a new reason to celebrate the beautiful sport in the form of the upcoming Kerala Super League. The tournament will begin in September and will go on alongside the Indian Super League and the I-League.
Out of the six participating franchises, Thrissur Roar FC have recently announced their strategic partnership with A-League side Brisbane Roar ahead of the inaugural Kerala Super League season. This partnership might turn out to be a landmark move for the club as the Australian outfit brings a lot to the table.
About the Kerala Super League
The Kerala Super League will unveil its debut season in the latter half of the calendar year. The Kerala Football Association and Unifed Football Sports Development Pvt. Ltd. will oversee the league’s organization.
In its first season, the league will consist of six clubs and have games scheduled at three different venues across the beautiful state of Kerala. The 45-day tournament will feature matches at the Sports Council Stadium in Manjeri, EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode, and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.
The clubs will represent the state’s districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Kannur. The clubs are namely Kochi Pipers FC, Calicut FC, Thrissur Roar FC, Kannur Squad FC, Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC, and Malappuram FC.
The well-thought-out league is expected to yield a plethora of benefits for the six selected locations while providing 100 gifted youths from Kerala a chance to access top-tier football opportunities and helping them advance in both Indian and international leagues.
Each team will consist of four overseas players alongside other Indian players. The league will be held in an home and away format followed by the knockouts to determine the winner of the inaugural edition of the championship.
