I-League star Lalnuntluanga Bawitlung set to sign for Mumbai City FC

The midfielder is all set to sign a 3-year deal with the Islanders

In a crucial move set to strengthen their midfield for their upcoming season, Mumbai City FC are all set to sign promising midfielder Lalnuntluanga Bawitlung on a three-year deal. Lalnuntluanga Bawitlung is a midfielder who has consistently impressed with his performances in the I-League.

He has previously been a standout performer for Sreenidi Deccan in the I-League, and with this move is now ready to make a transition to the ISL, bringing with him the experience and knowledge gained from his time in the second tier along with some fresh energy.

Lalnuntluanga Bawitlung’s journey in Indian football began in 2017 with Bengaluru FC’s U18 team. He then played for the Bengaluru FC Reserves in 2018 and then moved to FC Goa Reserves for the 2019-20 season.

Bawitlung was then seen playing in the third division for Ramhlun North FC, Ramakrishna Club, and Swaraj FC. His consistent performances there led to a significant move to Real Kashmir in the 2022-23 season. After his impressive performance at Real Kashmir, he signed for Sreenidi Deccan in the 2023-24 season.

While his individual assist count stood at just one last season for Sreenidi Deccan, his overall impact was greater. Bawitlung had a very good season, featuring in 21 appearances where he executed his midfield responsibilities well.

His particular strength was in his link-up play, especially with the captain Faysal Shayesteh, demonstrating a good spatial vision and passing to connect teammates and drive the ball forward, which proved invaluable to the Deccan Warriors.
