Lionel Messi 'GOAT' tour organiser Satadru Dutta vows to take legal action against West Bengal’s ex-sports minister Aroop Biswas

Messi visited Kolkata on December 13th.
The organiser of the Lionel Messi ‘GOAT’ tour that happened in December (2025), Satadru Dutta, has opened up about what caused the chaos that ruined his tour of Kolkata.
As the beginning of the ‘GOAT’ tour – that saw Messi travel across multiple Indian cities to interact with the fans – the FIFA World Cup 2022 champion was poised to share memorable moments with fans at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
However, the event that took place on 13 December descended into utter chaos as Messi was unable to remain at the stadium for the entirety of the event because of crowd issues.
This resulted in unprecedented scenes at the Salt Lake Stadium following Messi’s early exit, with his fans infuriated at not being able to watch him in action or even interact with him properly for what was supposed to be a multi-hour-long event.
“He used his power, went on to click photos”: Satadru Dutta

Many supporters invaded the pitch at the Salt Lake Stadium, destroying in a manner of venting their anger towards the poor mismanagement of the event. Dutta, who was the organiser of the event, ended up being arrested in Kolkata airport soon after this took place, after being accused of being the prime suspect of causing the disarray.
He ended up having to spend 38 days in prison before being released on bail, and months after that, Dutta has hit out at the former West Bengal political establishment for ruining the event and scapegoating him in the process. Dutta has hit out at former West Bengal sports minister Aroop Biswas as being responsible for Messi’s early exit and using his influence to cause the crowd mismanagement inside the Salt Lake Stadium pitch.
Posting on his Facebook story with a picture of Biswas, who lost in the West Bengal assembly election in the Tollygunge seat in Kolkata.
Dutta wrote: “Just because you have lost in the elections, don’t think that you have been punished. I will lodge a defamation case, and if needed, will go to the Supreme Court. I will fight till the end.
“Repeatedly, I told him not to click pictures here. But, he, using his power, went on to click photos. He will have to pay for this.”
Satadru Dutta calls out that it’s his turn after the election result

Dutta has also reaffirmed that he will reveal all details of what exactly caused the mismanagement in the Messi event, and how he was pressurised to keep quiet, as well as being forced to serve a month-long prison sentence for the event he worked hard to organise in India.
He further added: “Press conference is coming soon.Everything will be exposed. You sabotaged my event. You victimised me.Y ou made my three years of effort and perseverance to vain. You made all the fans disappointed. You put me in jail for 38 days. Now it’s my turn..
“They thought silence could bury the truth…forced my team to issue ground access cards. When they refused, ground access card access denied. You locked them in a room arrest. Intimidation. Control. Your stooges didn’t just interfere…they blackmailed my event. They sabotaged everything.”
With the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) suffering defeat at the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026, it seems like Dutta is now ready to take action against the former sports minister for causing disarray at the Leo Messi event in Kolkata – citing him as the reason for why the experience was ruined for everyone.
